I was inspired to create this metric nomograph by Beery and his Real Fleet Boat mod. Prior to his release, I had been unable to figure out how to get the nomograph to show up on the in-game map.

This mod is intended to work in conjunction with Beery's Real Fleet Boat Mod. Simply replace the Data\Menu\Gui\Layout\Nomograph.dds file in the RFB mod with the nomograph.dds file contained in this archive.

For those who wish to use this nomograph without the Real Fleet Boat mod, simply install this mod with JSGME.

To use the nomograph, simply mark your target's current location on your map. Then time the target for a length of time of your choosing. Mark the target's new location and measure the distance traveled. Finally, draw a line on the nomograph that starts on the "Minutes" scale for the time you measured and passes through the distance your target traveled on the "km" scale. Your line should also continue on to intersect the "Knots" scale. The point where this line intersects the "Knots" scale indicates your targets speed.

Additionally, the nomograph can be used to estimate a targets future position if you know the targets heading and speed. Simply draw a line starting at the number of minutes in the future that you are interested in and end the line on the "Knots" scale at your targets speed. Where this line crosses the "km" scale represents the distance the target will travel in the given time.

This mod is a derivative work.
Credit goes to Beery for the Real Fleet Boat mod and Hildofr for the Imperial nomograph and the changes to the menu_1024_768.ini file that allows the nomograph to display on the in-game map.
Credit is also due to Wazoo for his Silent Hunter 3 Nomograph. His horizontal nomograph gave me the scale information I needed to create this vertically oriented version.

Is it possible to update this for 1.2 since the menu1024ini file was changed in the patch? If someone could even let us know what lines to edit, I can do it manually, or if someone wants to redo it for 1.2 altogether that would be great too. Thanks.

Fixed, I'll be uploading the new version of the imperial and metric nomograph mods to my FileFront page in a few minutes.

Regards,
Chris

edit: Metric and Imperial Nomograph's for SH4 v1.2 are available for download at my FileFront page.

This a great tool. Thanks a lot!

It sure helps without the Chronometer working.

In the imperial version, it calculates the speeds about 1 knot faster than they really are, but knowing that one can simply adjust accordingly.

I take "myself" back. The nomograph measures well, I was doing things a touch wrong.

Thanks for the update Probex. I normally use my metric nomograph but I spent an hour or so last night testing the imperial nomograph. I was/am trying to help someone who is getting speed results that are greatly different from actual speed. In my tests the imperial nomograph was pretty much spot on. It was always within a quarter knot or so of the true speed. Obviously, with the way the ruler works it won't be exact every time, but it should always be very close.

Chris

Hello?
No file!

Its esential to have Nomograph on Map, it saves time by doing speed calculations!

aswell how is called 360' compass that i saw on Werners Sobe Tutorial video he was using on Attack Map?

These two things are most important!

HELP!
