This small modification replaces stock dial textures of the SHIV orders bar. The intent was to mimic the gauges found on the U.S.S. Pampanito, a WWII Balao Class submarine.

Installation

Extract the content of OAKsHudGauges.zip into your SHIV directory, acknowledge Overwriting existing (stock) files. Using manual installation; Dials_us_imperial.dds and Dials_us_metric.dds go into your SHIV\Data\Menu\Gui\Layout folder. Don’t forget to backup your original files, just in case.

Same Here, nowhere to click "download"

OakGroove
04-06-07, 02:47 AM
@ oldgoatsboats and mayandlex,

in the empty field to the left of the download button you'll need to enter the 3 coloured digits next to it. After doing this, hit enter. A timer starts : "bitte warten xx Sekunden" (Please wait xx seconds), after counting down it reads "zum Starten des Downloads hier klicken" (Click here to start the download). Hope this helps.

Ok, this has been added to the Subsim Downloads (http://www.subsim.com/subsim_files/patches2005.html).

Question for the mod maker, does this add an extra speed to the sub (STANDARD) or does 1/2 and 2/3 function as one speed now?

cheers
Neal

Hello Neal,
functionality stays the same as with the stock overlay, it's just a texture replacement.

Ahead: 1/3 - 2/3 - Standard - Full - Flank
Back : 1/3 - 2/3 - Full - Emergency

All speeds are individually selectable by clicking on the corresponding fields.

I think i know why you're asking : the borderline between 1/3 and 2/3 isn't drawn continuous to the edge, like on the stock texture, but neither it is on the reference material:

This is very very embarrassing...I totally overlooked your mod "OakGroove" For some stupid reason I thought you had done a mod for the "Gauge" rings in the "Control Room" DOH!!! Don't ask me why...I think I saw that big pic you posted in the 1st post and never looked further down. I can only say that you done a hell of a job with this one. Thanks. That's good news. BTW I had seen a post that 1.2 corrected the problem of the clipboard causing a lag on long patrols. I had it installed but did not reinstall after the patch. I guess I'll see how my game works without it for now.

NefariousKoel,

multi-culti compass if you will... thanks for pointing this one out. Occasionally my german breaks through  I plan on doing something similar to the Bordinstrumente mod i did for SH3 - a new version of the orders bar gauges will be part of this release.

Was there a version of this mod with the Compass was less cluttered, by only having the N,S,E,W Arrows in the middle?

I may be mistaken, but I thought I saw it a few days ago, and I just reinstalled everything and now cannot find that version of this mod(if it exists).

Bando

Don't know what you mean exactly, but at the mod page (sticky) are several hud mods. I'm using Oak's hudgauges, but they are not as you described.

I thought I saw a version of the OakHudGauges a few days ago that just had the 4 points (N, S, E, W) on the compass, instead of 8 points (ie. N, NW, W, SW, S, SE, E, NE) that this mod has.

http://www.subsim.com/subsim_files/g1ij8.jpg

I liked it better because it was easier to read without the NW, SW, NE, SE points, and just looked cleaner because of that.

I'm sure I saw it somewhere. Maybe I'm getting old...

Bando
06-30-07, 08:24 AM
he he, yep, I know what you mean about getting old.
I'm using the one in your picture and I like it. If there is a uncluttered version, it's a version I've never seen before from Oak. I'll have a look, if you find one give us a call, I'll do the same.

Bando you Rock! Thank you so much! That is what I saw... I guess I thought it was a different version of OakGrooves because it uses the dark colors. I have been using Jimimadrid's shinyborder Hud for so long I forgot what the stock hud looked like.

Where did you find it? I went through the entire Mod list thread and couldn't find it.
