I was leaving Pearl and took a look at the ocean bottom and I was only about 6 feet above huge rocks and seaweed the size of trees.
Went over and looked at an aircraft carrier and it looks to be setting on the bottom of the ocean floor.
I know Pearl is shallow but not that shallow. I know this is not a priority item but I think it needs some attention. Wish I could do it, my hat's off to all you that are making this game better!
Thanks one and all :sunny:

One thing is for sure: it's too shallow for aerial torpedoes.:rotfl:
Conventional aerial torpedoes plunged to more than 100 feet in depth and ran a long distance to arm. The 45-foot average depth of Pearl Harbor and the short runs necessary to sink ships there were dealt with by adding wooden fins to the torpedoes, altering the arming devices, and by training in simulated conditions.

:know:
It is in this movie and discussed by Namamoto and his Air Attack lead....
Specialy modified Aerial torpedo's along with training in shallow drop methods allowed the average harbor depth at Pearl to be notaproblem....
Naval Intelligence long concluded that Pearls shallow waters offered protection from aerial torpedo atack...
Namamoto knew of the use of aerial toredo attacks in the Mediteraranean and knew his Air officers could be trained to do such an attack as welll. Training began long before departure of the attack fleet and the methodology was perfected.
So running around Pearl in shallow water is fairly realstic with Deep draft vessels limited to approach and departure to specific channels. The fear of bottling up Pearl like a cork by sinking a BB or Carrier in the entrance channel was a genuine concern.
Pearl being of such importance could have been modeled more effectively than SH4 shows it. Battleship row with it's sunk BB's and all the other damage vessels, etc could have been modeled readily from available historic documents. Another UBI miss.. I am grateful for what they do show and am sure modders will make this a special project to get this harbor looking realistic... Diamond Head would also be nice visual candy..

I haven't looked at PH yet. I had been thinking CTDs were a function of too much going on and stayed out of port. OTOH, I looked at Midway... Ugh, if PH looks like midway I'm nt sure I want to see it---course I'm one of those guys who was appalled at the abysmal PH in Pacific Fighters (which looks like it was modeled by someone google impared---I mean there are great aerial photos of the harbor takne under 1 monthy before the attack, lol, no excuse for not getting it right.
BTW, will the mission builder let you remove or place buildings?

Some historical notes about Pearl:
'The First Air Fleet had held maneuvers for almost a year, and the results were promising. Under the direction of Commander Mitsuo Fuchida, who would lead the air assault on Pearl Harbor, the "impossible" task of an aerial torpedo attack was made possible. Conventional aerial torpedoes plunged to more than 100 feet in depth and ran a long distance to arm. The 45-foot average depth of Pearl Harbor and the short runs necessary to sink ships there were dealt with by adding wooden fins to the torpedoes, altering the arming devices, and by training in simulated conditions."
