Hi, started campaign 1940, from Lorient heading to BF17, and keep getting reports of enemy warship at EK88, this is with GWX stock 1.03 campaign files, the following is in the area mentioned:

I don't recall this being in 1.02, is this deliberate or an error?:-? and what layer is causing this?:)

That's one way of looking at it!! Probably in the SCR layer, they might be all carriers!:lol: One patrol & I might be able to replace Donitz or dare I say, der Furhrer!:up:

Reece, it could be the RND layer. The report probability could be too high. Only BBW can confirm this, unless you want to open up the layers in the Editor for that year & time and see for yourself.

I will look in the SCR layer with the editor but if someone knows what the problem is it would be nice to know (save time). This is Stock 1.03!:yep:

I hope his rounds aren't an annual event!:lol:

The problem is in the RND layer and are the three Freetown Patrols, I deleted them, tested, and all was ok, when Bigboy does his rounds he may be able to suggest a better fix than this!:yep:

The problem is in the contact reports
Was set at 300 minutes when should have been -1
Damnit

Just to clarify, is it the entries that are set to -1 that are governed by the contacts.cfg, otherwise why do these show up at all if they are that far away?

Have you still got a copy before you deleted them ?

If so just open all 3 in the miss ed and in group properties change the " minimum contact report " from 300 to -1 and " save Rnd layer "

Or open the Rnd in note pad and search for " Freetown Patrol "

Groups 2345\6 and 7 IIRC

Alter this line

ReportPosMin=300

to this

ReportPosMin=-1

Rubini will know more about the -1 than me dan but I think they only show when in the radius of the Contacts.cfg values

Any other value ie ReportPosMin=300 means you will get a report wherever you are every 300 mins

sorry, in my rush to post I actually meant to type last few months, not years.

The port is Trondheim and I've been getting that message on every patrol since the start, 1939. I'm now on my 7th patrol and its March 1940.

The above issue with the habour ship showing is only minor & I'm sure it can wait until 1.04.

Next....
Nooooooo, some of the entries in the RND layer need to have that figure.:yep:

If I am correct.....

The ReportPosMin=-1 will mean that the report will only be sent when you are within the set radius in the contact.cfg & then only by a percentage chance.

Items like ReportPosMin=300 will mean that the report can be sent at any time regardless of your position, again, only be a percentage chance.

Does that make sense.:doh:

LOL, It can be a pain but that is what Winmerge is for.;) Took me 15mins to copy my changes from 1.02 to 1.03 using that tool, I know it's not as complicated as your changes but it still makes it easy.

At the end of the day, I doubt a fix for the mentioned issues in this thread will warrant a quick release of 1.04 the dev's will surely wait for more content to be added and we will still have to compare 1.03 to 1.04 because there is bound to be other changes beside what's mentioned here. Unfortunately, if we want to use their files we have to follow their wishes.

So, even if your get a 'quick fix' from BBW now who's to say that when 1.04 is ready that there hasn't been wipespread changes to the campaign layers, not only that but think ahead to the final release of GWX, what about the additional ships etc.;)

It's tough mate but at least we're not re-writing the campaign layers.:arrgh!:

Correct. There have been no major issues raised with GWX 1.03 so far that would warrant an "immediate" 1.04.

I can guarantee that 1.04 will contain vastly modified campaign files. New ships need to be added; current "placeholder" ships need to be replaced; and new scripting will be added to support the new ships (ie new events which due to lack of available ship types have not yet been scripted).

FYI I think you'll find that 1.04 = final release, at least that's the plan atm. :yep:

Dan had an advance copy of the rnd for his spysat and I wouldnt do that if I objected

The first fix for the Freetown Patrols is posted above
The single contact docked at Trondheim is an armed trawler called FROYA
Search for that name in the rnd or its docked at Trondheim in the mission ed

Same as before - change contact report to -1 from 300

No there are units deliberately given contact times of 300m so I wouldnt have noticed a rogue one

There will be plenty of changes to the campaign files to accomadate new ships and replace " placeholders " as Jaesen said

Have taken 2 days off work from tomorrow to begin that task as I now have an idea of some of the units going in
