Befor I start I want to clarify something, Im not looking for realism right now Im looking for a challenge. That being said what files do I need to tweak to make escorts deadly ala late atlantic theater. I tried the mod someone posted for harder escorts but they still just circle around and drink sake while my four piece band plays in the engine room. Im starting to wonder if this is the copy protection going nuts on legit copies of the game (happened and confirmed once allready with the 2d characters replacing the 3d ones). ANyways ive tried,

1. copying sh3 sensor and sim config files attributes into the sh4 ones, didnt work
2. Tried going up and down in the sensitivity line for hydrophones and sonar. didnt work
3. Using someones mod the put up, didnt work.

as far as I know ive changed so much im going to have to reinstall now because I was afarid to make backup copies of the files as someone said having a copy of a file will make sh4 still use the copy not the new one. So anyone please, any thoughts or files would be huge. As it is now im playin medieval total war II (which ironicly had a passive ai bug also) until I can get some challenge into this sim. Thanx and good hunting.

Well, heres the settings i use in the sim.cfg of my own mod:

- ai cannons max fire range from 6K to 9K
- lost contact time from 15 to 30 mins

- visual / enemy surface factor from 400 to 200
- visual / enemy speed factor from 15 to 9

- hydrophone / sensitiviy from 0.03 to 0.04
- hyrophone / waves factor from 0.5 to 0.85
- hydrophone / noise factor from 1 to 0.35
- hydrophone / thermal layer attun from 3.0 to 2.0

- sonar / detecton time from 20 to 5
- sonar / thermal layer attun from 5.0 to 3.0

These are moderate. Smarter then your stock AI, but not what i would call hard, particurlly with the existance of thermal layers.

Off the top of my head, If you want a harder to lose tin can, then i would (rough figures):
hydrophones:
-change wave factor to 0.95
-change noise factor to 0.20 or even 0.15

Sonar:
- detection time to 1

Thermal layers, id reduce the attunment on both to 1. That ought to give you a heck of a time.
