View Full Version : Has anyone made a mod to make GWX nights brighter?

Tried a couple of searches and didn't come up with too much.
I've recently bought a lovely LCD monitor which is perfect in every way, except when I play GWX. I've just encountered my first storm at night and I really can't see a thing, I mean it's totaly black!
I've set the brightness up as far as it will go and I still can't see a thing, not even the crew.
I know that others have posted on this subject and there are a few mods out there that can help, but they tend to include other stuff and on the whole I'm really happy with GWX, and don't want to change anything else.
Is there a mod that will take away GWX night vision and replace with the stock (or thereabouts) but not change anything else?
Many thanks for your time:D

Try a search for "GWX 8km more lighter" in this forum, it's here somewhere.
EDIT: Nevermind, this is it.

Thanks matey - you've just saved my bacon:up:
If you want it even brighter I would suggest Mahkimovs Light night (8k).:yep: This changes the sky, and an excellent partner is Krillers water, if you can't find them I will upload.

I agree ; I wonder if there was a simple way to make the night more clear for 16Km
My crew is able to see far away from the sub at night while i see nothing, big shame on the Kaleun :rotfl:

Regarding the 16 km version. A long time ago there was a 16 km Light Nights mod by Markchimov (I think). Dulcimus' Flavored to Taste mod also has it integrated, you could just take out the relevant parts and use them.

Yes, 16 km mod by Markchimov is the best one  .

The 16k Mahkimov version did not give a light night, only the 8k version! Sorry.

I'm pretty sure that it did. I used it with the original Grey Wolfes, it was included as an optional mod. It's actually called the 16 km Light Night. Not to be confused with the 16 km mod which only increased the visual distance to 16 km.

Rubini will be working on a 16km version, I believe he's waiting for feedback on the 8km first.

I think Rubini is working with a "Stay Alert - crew fix" mod for 16 km users, not a 16 km Light Nights mod.

That was my impression also.

Ducimus' "Flavored to Taste" mod has a "lighter night" in it for those who use 16k (The one Henri II referenced above).
You can get it here.

The files in the \data\Env folder and the \data\scene.dat are the ones you need. I'm not sure how much of the rest of the mod is compatible with 1.03 (it was written for 1.02), but those files are fine.

Closing the curtains, making the room dark helps a lot too

And my monitor is old and dying and that means that I can only do night attacks during real life night hours.:p
If not for the WO "nearest target" function then I'd not even know there was a ship there.

The ENV dat files in my "GWX flavored to taste" mod, came from the last version of NYGM TW. Im not sure how they made them the way they did, but i thought those files the best enviormental dats ive seen. (particuarlly if your cursed with a dark monitor.) If you have NYGM 2.X anywhere on your hard drive, just use those ENV.dat's, they work great.

YOU'RE BLIND !!!

For an excellent 8km fix, do a quick search on this forum for Rubini's GWX 8km more lighter mod. In there, he offers three different EnvColors_Atl files (lighter, more lighter, and a mix in between those two); these work great with GWX without needing any other files. Also included is a special SkyColors_Atl file for richer night skies.:yep:
