Does anyone have any thoughts on how to manage this? In SH3 it was simple to enter the Basic.cfg file (if memory serves) and edit the speed increase value for engine upgrades from 1.0 to 1.4 or something similar. In SH4, that file wouldn't affect it anyway. Plus, there are no engine upgrades or changes that I can find.

Does anyone have ideas for this? I am not even sure which 'part' actually holds the speed values, but I know each sub has engines named specifically for that type so I presume the value would be found there.

While it WOULD be fun to race in circles around DDs doing 100 knots, I'm desperate to find a way to traverse the Pacific faster. When patrols begin, I seem to be able to hit 7000+ TC and everything operates smoothly, but on the way back it CHUGS by comparison. This is one of my pet peeves.

Hi There,
At last with the mods/tweaks that are happening I actually have boats (subs) that are acting more normally. My first lot were screaming out of habour at some 15 to 16knts in "Ahead Standard"....its now a gentle and MORE REALISTIC 12knts. Oh Lummey Gosh!!! Had we steamed out of Pompey from Dolphin at 15 to 16 knts.....we'd have sunk the Gosport ferry!!! I do know how you feel about traversing the Pacific though.....but its not a pond its the largest ocean we have on this planet. I usually have time to make a cup of tea whist getting to station.......All The Best....Dusty

Under -> C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific\Data\Submarine\NSS_*[subname]

there's a .cfg file (only one)... with:

(gato for example)

[Unit]
ClassName=SSGato
3DModelFileName=data/Submarine/NSS_Gato/NSS_Gato
HumanPlayable=YES
Interior=data/Interior/NSS_Gato/NSS_Gato
UnitType=200
MaxSpeed=21
MaxSpeedSubmerged=9
Length=95
Width=8.3
RenownAwarded=130
Looks like that's all you've got to change to get the different speeds.

Haven't tried it... but that's my first guess.

I use the mini Tweaker to mod my sub speed, now I can cut about while submerged at 20kts. What I haven’t been able to figure out is, now I can go faster the only way I can submerge is to crash dive. Then I have to cup up to periscope depth. Of course I can't crash dive in shallow water. However I have been playing with the other values in the mini tweakers sub files mod (I'm in a porpoise sub at the mo), but still cant just go to periscope depth without crash diving.

Those .cfg files don't affect speed, you need to use mini-tweaker
