i think he is chinese, and china was in war against japan during WW2 :yep:
so for some chinese it could be interesting as a game.

I would like go to pacific and sunk allied convoys and warships using japanese or german submarines.

why japanese don´t use his submarine fleet trying to sunk allied supply lines like germany with england ?? It could force U.S to use convoys system and can lost a lot of war suplys :hmm:.
Is very curious how an germany allied was defeated with the same tactic that Kriegsmarine use in the atlantic war with england.

Initially the US targeted warships until realizing sometime in 42 that sinking the merchants would harm the Japanese as much as the uboats were harming Britain

The US had no need to ship in ALL of its supplies to continue the war effort as Japan and the UK did

Funny thing about that. I just finished reading Peter Padfield's War Beneath The Sea, and he points out that the US never actually changed their policy; warships were always the first priority. If we had actually proclaimed an "all-out submarine war on merchant shipping" Japan might have been starved into surrender as much as a year earlier.

Undoubtedly, Imperial Japanese Navy is best navy in the early time of war. Also, the German U-boats are the best submarine in the world ever. I think that the mod that plays elite vs elite is very interesting. Imagine: Bismarck vs Yamato!:rock:

I'm not the one to talk to since I have nothing to do with GWX. Best you talk to "Kpt Lehmann". However since GWX is about historical accuracy they most likely won't include a scenario where you can attack Japanese ships.

Nevertheless expanding the merchant fleet of SH3 with new SH4 merchants would be pretty nice for ME. Japanese warships are nice eye candy but attacking them with a German boat is not what I'm looking for.

I'm not sure it was a double post, as it had some more new screens. So what I have done to prevent them from getting lost is mergue both threads :smug:

@kys2000: I undestand you have some difficulties expressing yourself in english, but remember that the game is about "sinking japanese ships" an not about "killing japanese". That last one sounds a bit harsh and aggressive towards fellow japanese forum members. If you are looking for the experience of killing japanese in a video game, probably "Medal of Honour: Pacific Assault" is a better choice.

Anyway, thanks for the effort of doing this conversion and also for sharing:up:

Uboat234, could you please describe the steps you would take to convert the SH4 Merchant ships into SH3 ships, with wakes and guns firing, etc.? I've downloaded your 4-part files and have my eye on about 17 Merchants that I would like to bring into my game. I'm not that interested in the Navy ships at this time, except maybe the Allied ones.

I noticed you had some comments related to .val files for the Cleveland. So I suppose this would cover the wake issue, but what about making the guns active? Are there some other issues that would also need to be fixed, besides changing the .cfg file to mirror the SH3 model? For example, activating or deleting "the little people", as Privateer put it.

By the way, if you are planning on doing all of these modifications yourself and releasing it to the community, I'll just wait for your usual excellent work. Thanks a lot for your help. EmeAzul

Downloaded it and checked the archive. Not tried it out though. Seems like there are a real bunch of new US ships in there as well. What I don't get is why the mod contains ships like the T3 Tanker and the Victory ship. They're already present in SH3. Has there anything been changed with these ships? I'm also a little reluctant to activate the mod since the presence of duplicate ship folders might mess up something.

There are also several new merchants there, seemingly of Japanese design considering the names. I also took a look at the *cfg files of the ships and found that under "Type" there was a different number. Not the usual "101", "102" and so on. So the ships most likely won't spawn in the campaign.

Will the newly included American subs work as player uboats in single missions?

how to solve the file for val ?
wake of ship ,damaged texture, LightmapTexture,NormalmapTexture,zhese problem ,can you resolve them ? I meet these difficultiles to advance the schedule.

But it have a child´s malady´s. For example broken US Dive airplane and USsreachplane and missimg airplane screw´s, broken Conte Verde etc.etc.
But i meaning that those problem´s UBOAT234 resolved, or i hope:) .
BUT yuor work is just the GREATTTT :sunny: :sunny:

All the problems can be solved with a VERY healthy dose of hex editing.
There is no easy way out.
Many more problems exist with importing to SH3 then the simple val switch.
Most of the ships have 2 damage objects SH3 will never see.
Those are over head that eat memory. They need deleted from EVERY dat
for ships.
10/-1 and 6/0 chunks are different, they should be switched out.
And I haven't even dug DEEP.
They work OK now but I won't throw a butt load on my system as is!

I'd be a bit leary myself.
They seem stable but there is so much different from Vanilla SH3
that I have not installed to my GWX install as yet.
Plus, they do not have corrected val files completed as yet.
As with all mods, procede with caution!!!

all 4 files must be download to compose into the one RAR file !
they are the one file !, which is ATTACK JAPAN MOD 1.0 !
you look differently as my pic ,because that I run on a patch 1.1,which is not completed!

This mod is run very well on THE GWX 1.03 !

how to edit a vol file?? I konw a little hex edit ! but don't know where is for SH3's rule!

DMG_NBB_Yamato.obj ,this sample ,the obj ,is not need by SH3 ? How to delete from the dat ?

In SH3, it does not work that way.
Those image files are useless.
As are all dds files.
Convert the main dds to tga only.
I'll contact you by E-mail
and give you the info you seek.
Be ready for a MASSIVE amount of Hex editing!!
Till someone writes a conversion program,
that is the only way!

Just rename files called "Euroliner", and name they "NPL_Conte_Verde"
It work great!

example: In folder SilentHunterIII\data\sea\NPL_Conte_Verde
EuroLiner.SIM->NPL_Conte_Verde.SIM
EuroLiner.EQP->NPL_Conte_Verde.EQP
EuroLiner.VAL->NPL_Conte_Verde.VAL
ecc.
