Cool, I was aboard that sub a couple of years ago. I asked the tour guides (actuall Drum vets) what they thought was the most realistic WW2 sub movie . . . without hesitation they said "Das Boot."

I posted a site with loads of US Subs battle flags , but then I remember that you don't tend to see them on the boats in sims.

Just if they can be added ..

How about this.... of course I could make it larger or on the original sub skin..... these pics are small and it looks better in game.

Here is the Drum with the Hull number... however the number is reversed on the other side.....

Fantastic ....

That is great , when I got ask if I wanted a new command "a new sub" I got the Drum. Don't know if everyone gets it, but that would be great as is on the grey one in the pics. I think the Drums on the CT is about to scale, but you would know more about that than me...

Great work , thanks ...

Cheeky to ask , but is there anyway to put the Battle Flag on it, I know the devs don't put flags on subs.

But if it can't be done , that version you have in the post is great..

Again thanks .. great work.

I would need the original battle flag spot on to use it.... haven't found one yet, so I came up with this one.

One thing I've just noticed that the CT in the pics you have posted is different from the USS Drum I got given to me in my career mode..

You may know this already , and I don't know enough about skins and that one will fit the sub I have ..??

I don't use outside cameras in my career but the outline of the Drum is on the top of the crew pages ..

but its here .. if you do need to see the CT as it is different from the one in the pics you posted.

Yea, having lived in the Mobile area (FWB), and having been to the Drum about a dozen times, I would love to have this skin. Looks great. I too have wondered if i was lucky enough to get the Drum, or does everyone. If eveyone does, that's a nice tip of the hat to the Drum

The origin of the submarine battle flag in World War II is a matter of some speculation, because before 1942, U.S. submarines did not own or display them. During late 1942 or early 1943, however, it became customary for a broom to be tied to the shears of a submarine returning from a successful patrol, indicating that it had made a “clean sweep” or sunk everything possible. In 1944, pennants were added to the brooms to indicate the number of kills. A Japanese flag denoted each ship sunk, with a solid orange circle on a white background for merchant ships and a rising sun for warships. Occasionally, these flags were also painted on the conning tower. This spontaneous and informal practice soon evolved into the creation of larger, more elaborate pennants, which included the submarine’s particular insignia, often borrowed from a crewmember’s “Submarine Jacket.” This emblem was sewn into the pennant, along with symbols denoting additional kills and distinctive accomplishments, as sort of a “living history” of the sub’s career. During 1944, Disney Studios, already involved in designing military insignia for both the United States and its allies, also designed submarine insignia. In all, the studio designed more than 30 fish insignia, which were assigned to submarines. Thus, on the Submarine Battle Flag – of which Barb’s is such a great example – was born.

I had another look on the web and about Disney designing Battle flag , looks like the flew them off the 2nd scope.
