Hi all,
This may sound silly to some, but I have a quibble about the way the percentages for realism features are divided up.
For instance, manual targeting is 15%.
No map contact update (and what was the tracking crew for , exactly?) 12%
(and aside - if we could actually annotate map markings as the manual say we should be able to, I would consider giving this up - despite the unrealistic work load of having one person do it)
So this is a whopping 27% decrease in realism.
BUT, I could also leave those on and instead select:
infinite batteries 7%
infinite O2 8%
No duds 7%
and non-realistic sensors 6% which also gives a 27% reduction but, in my opinion, results is far less realistic simulation that having the Auto tracking do its part.
You can come up with other equally absurd combinations.
There is far too much emphasis on the "manual shooting" thing which, in reality makes up a very small percentage of time during a patrol (longer in game time because no TC is probably used).
The things that make the game truly challenging are the sensors, managing battery power and O2, etc. This is what makes a submarine different that a surface ship. And don't get me started on the dud torpedo thing. That should probably have a greater impact on the realism level that any of the other things (well - really it should be equal with battery, O2 and sensors).
I think manual shooting is cool and fun, but it is overemphasized greatly in all nearly all submarine simulations (SC and DW, excepting).
For all of that preamble - Does someone know how to change these?
Mod: Please edit heading to say [TEC] - sorry for the error.
