Is it possible to modify the way the watch officer gives the range to target to just bearing and long range, medium, short without giving the real distance in meters?

Can some fellow modder give me a light in here?
IIRC, more than a year ago, RUB mod tried to find a solution for this but no dice. I don't followed this so close, than i can't say so much.
But the trick is in the menu_1024 file. Perhaps editing there this phrase and its parameters you can find a good solution.:hmm:
Edited: not in menu_1024 but in en_menu.txt!
NYGM has WO who ain't give me the range (I have a mixed feeling about this  ). I don't know where to make this happen tho..
Really I wish that you could get the WO to give you target data on more than just the nearest ship. Even though I'm supposed to get all my own target data, sometimes getting that stadimeter to work properly sucks madly.

Yeah, that's really so. They should give any ship's info and not-presice range and bearing information. Range to be +/- 300-500m inaccurate, bearing to be about 20 degree inaccurate and so on.
BTW, even though I said I don't know where to change to kill the range info from WO, on second thought, it's maybe very simple. There is a file which lists all sorts of verbal messages (can't recall the name of the file). Find the sentence of in question, and you can maybe simply cut the part where range info is. It's probably like "range %s" or something where %s is replaced with number in the game in real time (it's my guess, I'm not saying it's %s but it should be something similar). You can't change it to "long/mid/short" etc, most likely, however.

Yes you are right. Isnīt on menu_1024 but in en_menu.txt. Take a look!
