View Full Version : Sea Floor Rocks - not interpreted as real

As a test I had my porpise sub go down to periscope depth (15 ft) and watch several times how the sub went directly through the middle of several large sea floor rocks with no contact and no collision.

It appears they are for window dressing only.. albeit very nice window dressing. But it is a little bit of an immersion killer to see one's submarine cruising through the middle of rocks.. ;-)

Maybe someone can eventually make a mod where they give it the same value type as the top of subnets when you drive over one.

:arrgh!:

yuck!! Thats something I'd certainly like to see fixed.

The model of the seafloor is where the rocks & plants are. You cant hit them because then the devs would need to make the water deeper in points where it should not be deeper (harbors for example). They had to make a compromise. Doesnt bother me as I play with external camera only for screenshot purposes, so I wont be seeing the seabed too much. ;)

With all the collision modeling for each individual rock, don't you think it will lag the game quite a bit?

This issue is not so big... you're not supposed to use the external cam extensibly anyway. It's just eyecandy in an effort to draw in the casual gamer (who won't mind stuff like this anyway)

15 feet!? Good way to get a sun tan at periscope depth I guess.:sunny:

Yes, it really does improve frame rate.
