View Full Version : Slope of the view

Hello Kaleuns,

Maybe many of you have already noticed this phenomenon too:

When standing in the middle of the Command Room during a dive (so the bow of the Uboat is tilted down) the slope of your view remains the same regardless the actual direction you are looking in. In other words: when looking in the direction of the Navigator or Weapon officer the screen slopes from left to right, which is correct as the bow of the ship is at your right side. However, when you make a 180 degrees turn and look at the large dials at the wall, the screen slopes from left to right too, which is nonsense as the bow section is located now at your left. This means that you can't "feel" the actual tilt of the ship

Does anyone have any idea whether this bug can be corrected somehow?

Matyas

Sorry I didn't answer this sooner, but you posted it just moments before my morning session at the library ran out of time.

Yes, many people have posted about this over the last two years. That's okay, though; threads slip down to page 20 pretty quickly.

Yes, from the forward control room position it seems to slope properly from one direction and backwards from the other.

Here's something you probably didn't notice: go to the back of the control room. The slopes still seem wrong, but no matter which way you face the food is all hanging the right way!

And finally, no, no one has ever been able to fix it.

Thanks for your reply Sailor Steve. I searched the forum for similar topics before I launched this thread, but didn't find anything similar. Maybe i used improper words as search criteria...:hmm: Anyway, it's good that veterans like you have such a good memory! :)

That's bad news that the issue seems to be insolvable.

Oh, no, you're fine. I only get upset when people ask the same question that's already appearing three times on the front page. I know a lot of things you search for and they just don't show up, sometimes even threads I know the titles to.:rotfl:

Yeah, it's a funny little bug.

I have even experienced this while standing on the bridge and looking out at a slightly tilting sea horizon, no matter what direction you look at, it still tilts in the same direction (which in reality would be nonsense, of course)

My big worry is that SH4 has the same engine, will it be a problem there as well!:-?:damn:

pretend to be in Alice in wonderland. it's a reality distortion field, too.

After SH4 is out awhile,
I think there will be a
"We ain't lookin' to close"
at the fact that we may mod the hard code a bit.
Biggest problem I see is the fact that some
of the hard code seems to be compressed.
And is only expanded on Game start up.

I've looked at every file in SH3 and spotted
this fact.

Why would it even be listed if this were not the case?

Not to mention the fact that I recognise the alogorthm.
