View Full Version : Thomson Mod - Too many in GWX!

Hi all, I do like having the Thomson (or Thompson), mod but in GWX there are about a half dozen of em waving goodbye at the start of a campaign!!:rotfl: Let's face it one Thomson is enough!!:roll:
The Stock or HT147 only has one, does anyone know the file that would cause this?;)
Or better still, have a fix?:yep:

I like the idea of that mod, but I don't use It from the same reason. Too many Thomsen's:)

Id be lying if i said i didnt sneak him into the tex directory of my modpack and deliberatly not document it :88)

Hi again Ducimus, I know where the fanfara_boy.tga file is but what file uses it on the docks, there is nothing in the mis files, I think it's tied in with the Harbours that are placed within the maps, I went through the Library files but found nothing, if I remove the following files:
4_of_ap_N.dat
cuib_mitraliera.dat
fanfara.dat
there is no change, the answer is close!:yep:

I honestly have no idea. I never experiemnted with placing or removing objects in the game world.

The Thomson mod is a modded texture for one of the fanfare characters, as it happens this one is used only once on the dock is stock SH3, but in GWX it is used half dozen times!:-?

I don't know how the people are placed on the docks.
Through Terrain editing?
But I could make a single dat so,

Yeh Jaesen I love risks!!! but that is what modding is all about, for some reason though I don't get much time to actually play the game!:lol:

Yes. I know it oh so well, LOL! ;)

But it is always good when you finally get what you want to work with everything else as you planned.

I know nothing about texture editing but if you can help here, I (& others) would certainly appreciate it.:yep:
I wish I could help mate, but that's the one area where I've just never ventured I'm afraid. :cry:

I just re-installed SH3 so I'll look at the docks and see if I can isolate one
dock dweller and change his skin.
I'll have to add another install again for GWX (Lost them both!)
and do the same.

Thanks, I was going to swap the Wilhelmshaven.dat & Wilhelmshaven.dsd files with the stock ones but this may not do a thing!:-?

Ok, I looked at Bergen.dat and it contains alot of non 3d nodes.
I haven't looked close so this is a guess at this point but,
If each node there calls on one of the dats in the library folder
that would explain how the dwellers are placed.
If that is the case,
we chop down one dat, add the one skin, and add a new node to one location dat.
After all, he should only be in one port, right?

I tried replacing the 3 Wilhelmshaven files with stock, loaded a career in Wilhelmshaven and there were still half dozen of them, so not in these files! Schultz was correct!:lol:

The mod is by Payoff, I actually PM'd him a few days ago but have had no reply, the mod works well with stock+HT147, but not in GWX!:yep:

Well I just started a career in Lorient in GWX and there are 3 of those beardos on the dockside
Ran one in stock too and the same 3 are there also

If Ref or some of the other guys that have done work in the dock
areas confirm what I'm thinking as far as the nodes,
I'll kick it out.
So, If there is only one, where do we assign him? :hmm:

From looking around the dockside it looks as if there are around 8\9 different figures
They seem to be re used as much as needed

I know Ref has just had to reformat so isnt much use at the mo

He has other things to do first for 1.03 but will tap him up when he isnt flat out

Thanks, in my old version (before GWX) I only ever had 1, why I don't know, but since I was using around 100 mods who would know where to look!:huh:

The one thing I never did before I lost my GWX install
was look at the files.
I needed to learn Stock SH3 first and that is how I've worked to this day.
If I can't handle stock, then GWX would be the bullet to put me down.
Now that I have reached a level of understanding of stock that I'm
comfortable with,
I'll start looking at the Super mods files to get an even deeper
insight.
