When i first started playing SH3 about a year ago, i remember inching along on the surface and then suddenly from the fog came a British torpedo boat. It circled me and opened up with guns, to which i responded with the deck gun and wasted him.
the issue i had was - if he is a torpedo boat... i should have been done for. all he needed to do was drop one of his fish into the water and sink my U-boat.
now with GWX, other U-boats are experiencing the same problem... they only engage enemy units with the deck gun.
is there a mod out there anywhere or is there one in the works that will allow surface ships like the PT boat, or subs tu use torpedos?
no ai torpedoes yet
although there is some modders working on this right now

Sergbuto released a workaround where the AI torpedo was a gun firing shells to simulate the torpedo
The guns dat isnt compatable with GWX though
As Cobalt posted the AI fish are being worked on

To date I've never really thought about this. This is a damn good point, thanks for bring it to my attention, I consider the large ships the danger, but if these little devils could do what they were meant to do (launch a eel at your U-Boat) well imagine how evil they would become, in fog these boats just appear not time to react.
:hmm: I wonder

not only that but how many U-boats were hit in the Bay of Biscay by lurking British Subs?
the data can be found on U-boats.net - more than one U-boat met her end from a brit torpedo.
i remember the encounter with the PT boat like it was yesterday even though it was about a year ago... i thought for sure i was about to get slammed... as the U-boat was crash diving i was frantically looking for the trail of a torpedo heading for my sub.
The PTs are made to be a bit more devastating now that they come with hedge hogs later in the war, nothing like diving under to avoid one in rough seas and he just drives right over you with a hedge hog attack :(

I think the majority off Uboat losses accross the bay of Biscay were caused by aircraft.
But a total of 13 Uboats were lost at the hands of Royal Navy submarines, not too shabby really.
At the moment we just have the leand lease S-class in GWX which is an American sub. The true British submarine classes S/T/U/V matched, and in some respects were superior to there German counterparts. Some of T class subs had 11 torpedo tubes for instance!
This is not reflected in GWX -but we are working on it.

Ven the destroyers should launch torps too the launcher should be
configurable on other ships too.
anvart has had some success at this.

Hi!
If you really want AI torpedoes then you should be prepared for aircraft to drop homing torpedoes on your U-boats as well.... :)

We know the trickiest bit is a torpedo bomber flight profile.
