I have tried this mission at least a dozen times, each time I get attacked. Obviously, I'm being detected, but I've also tried running north away from all the contacts.
A couple of times I have returned fire, and killed the 6 subs that spawn (eventually I turned on truth to see if I could get some progress that way). I'm not quite sure what the goal of the misison is. I've remained covert a couple of times for six hours or more. I've identified a surface group by ESM, periscope, sonar.
I'm stumped what to do to complete the mission.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, LiveDie

Not help, but a question 4U:
Are you using 'stock' DW or have you installed the LWAMI mod?
(built the RSR campaign using the stock game, but I've been told it works at least as well with LWAMI.)

I'm using the stock game.
I managed to get it earlier. I pulled back and got in behind the carrier group, then used the periscope to ID most of the boats. As I was diving to open distance, I guess sonar picked up and IDed the last one, because the mission completed. I ended real quick before they could fire on me.

I'm having a really tough time with this mission. I keep getting killed just south of the starting position. Not sure what I am supposed to be doing--except for doing it more stealthy...

This mission is all about tagging stuff. It doesn't matter on what sensor, but the difficulty comes from overlapping contacts making it hard to tag individual targets unless you get lots of frequency lines.
ESM and even the periscope can help you out in this one, but the most important thing is to maintain situational awareness and not to get too close to anything with a towed array or active sonar.

So is there a time limit on this scenario, or number of ships to tag? Also do you have to positively ID and classify?
