Quite a few places got hit with air raids up north. It helped the Government create the highway between Adeliade and Darwin. Before that the road treck was something out of a nightmare!!

Max respect.
Also the 62nd anniversary of the US Marines invasion of Iwo Jima (http://www.defenselink.mil/home/features/iwo_jima/iwo.html). 36 days later, over 6800 of them had died in conquering the island and Japan was on its last leg prior to defeat and surrender.
May their memories be blessed.

Gotta note the media agenda..."Darwin got bombed in the war can we have our terrorist back out of gitmo"...I've never been able to work out how they connect things:nope:

Never underestimate the media's ability to make connections where none exist.
I gotta admit to being disappointed to see some of the editorial crap creeping into what should have been a straightforward memorial story.:nope:
