GWX:

1. Where is the tga files of the textures folder?

2. Where is the tga file for the harbour buildings?

3. Why does some of the uniforms and some ships have an alpha layer?

4. Why does my graphic card need to load all the textures at startup, making the game stutter the first few moments?

PS My graphic card is my bottleneck in GWX! DS

I can answer your first two questions.
The tga files were packed away into dat files so to speed up the loading time and to make the D/L smaller.
To play GWX you need to meet the recomend specs lay down by Ubi to have a smooth running game i find. But when you first load up it might be a bit jumpy due to the fact that your machine has a lot to take in staright away:up:

Aha!

Does that mean I can't use any smoke mods for example?

Can I get to the textures in the dat files?

You can use somke mods just make sure you use just tga files ony and not dats thats all.
Most are JSGME ready and if you dont like it you can just disable it at a click of a button:p
I have tryed out several smoke mods and not had a problem at all.

I am not 100% sure but I don't think there is a problem using different smoke mods in GWX. The one thing you have to be careful is sub skins. If you want to keep the cable fixes that GWX introduced you must install GWX-compatible skins. Everything else (graphical mod I'm talking about) should be fine with GWX.

Ok, thanks! Can I look into a dat file to see which tga file names is needed to modify the tga files?

You can look into the dat file i you wish but if you experince any ill effect after your tampering with the dats you might have to reinstall so beware.;)

Remember the are some great somke mods on the market in the coummuinty and most of them i belive are JSGME ready so unless you dont like them the is really no need to go poking around in the dats.

There is no need to look into the dats
If you have a smoke mods just whack it in the Textures folder as normal
The game will pick it up

Jonte........graphics and sounds mods are generally not problematic PROVIDED YOU USE JSGME TO INSTALL THEM....this great piece of kit will forewarn you if there are any clashes or problems....therefore giving you the opportunity to withdraw them before any damage is done.
If however after installing there is a problem....simply rollback SH3Cmdr (highly recommended) and delete them from your mods folder :arrgh!:

@mrchris...can you pop over to TS matey
