Hi there y'all!
Just discovered this game in my local Best Buy and what a gem it is! I've been a huge fan of subsims but have been out of the genre for a while. Now, I'm just trying to bring my new SH III up to date but it's a bit daunting with all the patches and modifications. What do you guys recommend? Which mods should I download and in what order. Are GWX and NYGM for example compatible when installed together? Does GWX contain some of the small realism modifications found on the Subsim.com MODS download page, so I wouldn't have to download each one individually.

Thanks in advance.

Hello and Welcome to SubSim:up:

GWX and NYGM are super-mods and they are not compatible with each other. They both have loads of smaller mods in them so most probably you will not have to include any of the optional mods (except some skins). I would suggest GWX as it's by far the best, so if you want it just click on the link in my signature to get it.

Downloading as we speak! Oh man, I can't wait to delve into the details of this game, it's been a while since I dedicated this much time to a simulator (after studying 800 pages worth of manual on the F-16's systems for Falcon 4: Allied Force).

Trust me GWX ROCKS:yep:

Make sure you read the manual as well. It explains a lot of issues with the game and it's totally fantastic. I'm not saying anything more as I don't want to spoil your surprise;) :D

Also if you're not using them, download as well SH3Cmd and SH3Gen. They both add a lot to the game. They are a must:yep:

There's some important info in the GWX manaul that will explain what you need to do. And don't forget to enable the Dec 23rd fix, first, using JSGME. You'll also see some other GWX optional mods already available when you open JSGME which comes with GWX. FYI

Yes welcome. I actually printed that manual out in color, about 6" thick, but found the game too full of bugs, Lead Persuit, should have just come up with a whole new game, the graphics for F4AF were really only reskins of the original, I shelved it, what a waste of color lazer toner that was!!
But SH3 is the opposite, Excellent!! and SH4 is less than 2 months away!

Welcome to Subsim!

Did anyone mention GWX yet? :p

Get it, it's a great mod and it vastly improves the game.

I also just noticed this mod today which looks like it would be worthwhile adding on to GWX. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=105298

Good luck and good hunting!:arrgh!:
