I have an accentless German tongue, count me in Reece
I have now got all the PM's sent and some files have arrived, and will wait for all the other speech files to come in before testing etc!:yep:
Have you found that micofone yet Woof!:D
I have tried recording my own speech in the past to mod various games but I keep bursting out laughing, especially if my wife is watching, I would like to use the voice commands mod but the looks I got put me right off, not to mention that you feel kinda silly!!:rotfl:
Thanks all!
Cheers.

Well, as long as it isn't Kaernten dialect, you should be easy enough to understand.
Sign this man up, Reece, a few regional accents would be good to have!
What about a Saxon, or two?
Then maybe someone could tell me what " Ei verbibsch" (as Erich Honecker would have said it) means in English. Been trying to find that out for about two years!!!

I’m not aroused by my own voice BUT, I know a Viennese girl who has a great (make that fantastic) voice, and I could record her. Is there a mod with female characters?
I'm serious about recording this girl.
Oh you guys!:rotfl:
To the speech makers - please no numbering of tubes in speech, for example, if I selected tube 4 I don't want the officer replying "Tube 1 flooded".:D
Thanks for your patience & time.:yep:
Cheers.
You need good ol' nautical north German! I'd volunteer, but I only have a crackly microphone.

Another non Kärntner Austrian speaker here, but i'm like Boris, my kit is sh**
Besides, maybe it might seem a bit odd having an austrian heavy uboot crew...we are landlocked after all! :)
Never mind, the thought was there!

Hello Cheapskate,
as far as I know "Ei verbibbsch" is an expresion of astonishment / surprize, like "oh". Dear Saxons, please correct me if I'm wrong ;)
Cheers

Do bin issch ober blott! I had more or less, resigned myself to never finding out what "ei verbibbsch" meant and it had become something of an obsession. Now I'm free at last.
Thank a million Mr Fleck  That's at least two Subsimmers you have made eternally grateful - I remember how you helped Robbie out with his translation and German recording problems!
Cheers

Saxon is probably the most ugly language to have been uttered by a human tongue.
@ Reece, I've managed to get a better mic if you need any more
What exactly are you doing anyway?

Some say it about German :) (interesting - in Poland one loves German [language!] or hates it, there are few who just don't care). And what's so ugly about Saxon? Just curious. :)
And a question to you: a group that translates GWX to Polish is considering recording also the spoken reports in Polish. If we manage - do you have some tips? We've got no idea, how to do it, how many flavours there should be... Nothing. :| Would be great if anyone experienced with the issue had some good tips.
Saxon is just the worst German dialect in the way that it sounds :D
To make the polish translation you're going to have to record dialog to replace all of the speech files.
The speech files are here:
C:\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\Sound\Speech_En
each of the numbered folders have the same dialog, only different pitches of voice.
I can play all of the ogg files with media player. Have a look... looks like a bit of work to do.

Strange - I could bet I haven't heard many of these in my game. Are they all really scripted?
I think alot of them are redundant. Features the devs never implemented in the release version.
