there seems to be a tendency among sub skippers to be a little shy on
the surface when engaging enemy surface units. Fortune Favors the Bold.

the sub was modified to be able to take it it isnt immortal as I said in readme
but she can take a lot more hits than your accustomed too and your systemswont fail near as often in the event of damage.

Surface torpedo doctrine seems to be under covered in the readme so heres what I can add.

1. torpedos in uberboot mod are standoff weapons although its currently not listed as such in the readme I believe all copies in distribution have
7500 metre range for torps now. as I had switched over torp types to a single type just before distribution.

- as standoff weapons they are to precede a surface attack in order
to reduce the odds to managable when you are heavily out gunned.

as a rule I use these parameters.

1 ship or 2 small ships = gun targets
3 ships = 1 or 2 torpedo targets depending on enemy firepower
4 ships = 3 torps and one gun target.
etc.

while enemy ships are still outside gun range fire torps engage with guns
at range as torps close enemy charge.

a typical sequence is as follows

enemy detected (four frigates)
-course towards enemy
-all stop and coast
-fire torp 1,2,3 at target one two three
-coasting still add ahead slow
-turn 90 degrees to unmask aft deckgun
-engage enemies with deckguns via bridge binoc designation
-remember to check torp progress once torps at halfway mark
-ahead flank, course back around towards enemy
-close at speed as torps take out heavy numbers
-remember to check for stray torps heading your way
-destroy by gunfire any remaining enemy ships
(if possible {weak enemy or weak ai} ceasefire main deckguns
until close )
-charge into target when a few hundred yds away set up
a raking pass parrallel down one side of the target or the other.
-immediately order deckguns to open fire once on raking course
and man fwd 37mm (button g) and then open up on them
from a few hundred yards (this can be very stimulating)

other issues
- GWX integreated orders interferes with uberboot mod and should
be disabled prior to uberboot activation.

- an unrushed orientation mission was not included this time but will
be in next version.

- it is hard to learn to fight from the bridge and supplement that with
human gun manning, tendency seems to be to try to fight from gun
and supplement with bridge orders, however fighting from the bridge
is far more effective especially in a heavy fight.

- another reminder to all to remember to select IXB 1939 in mission selection menu whenever you need uberboot.

- I dont think I emphasized it but uberboot is available at 7th flotilla
in 1939 along with a little extra prestige.

- if necessary next version will have more 105mm ammo if it becomes necessary

- testers we need your input , dont forget to write.

- IMPORTANT in GWX at least enemy ships have their natural gun ranges
your engagement ranges for short med and long are set at only
2000 4000 and 6000 yds respectively enemy may open fire from much further away , your cannons have more range than designated engagement
ranges so if you can lock em up and designate em you should be able to
shoot em. ( balancing this will be worked on prior to next version)
