Oh boy!
You know mate, this was one of the very first problems we wannabe Kaleuns encountered with Sh3.

Gee it's been ages sine my first static problem...i feel old now!;)

Here's what you need to do:

1.Make sure the game is patched!
2.Make sure you have the latest driver for you sound-card
3.If that doesn'T help go into DXdiag and turn down the sound acceleration a notch.

If is doesn't help post again!

If that works get one of the Mega Mods! GWX or NYGM and good hunting!

thanks for the reply
-i patched the game to v1.3...
-there were no updates available for my sound card, i have SoundMAX digital audio...
-i also turned down the acceleration but no luck, there's still static!:damn: any more ideas? thanks again.

I have the same problem on my Soundblaster Live! 5.1 in SH3 and some other games. I think its due to the soundcard itself not being supported anymore so I'm in the market for a new one (one of those X-Fi Xtremegamer cards look nice  ). For now, I am running off my motherboard's sound and I have no problems with the static.

turn down hardware sound-acceleration two notches, to Basic.
Worked for me on my old sound-card (Philips Seismic Edge).
Now I have a NForce2 Ultra-setup, and can run on full H/W-acceleration.

thanks for the advice guys..
turning the acceleration down 2 notches still doesn't work :nope:..
how do you run off the motherboard's sound card? and to azn_132- yes it is v1.4b.

You would change the sound device in your "Sounds and Audio Device Properites" under the tab "Audio".

hmm I only have one option "SoundMax digital audio".. I'm guessing that is the motherboard's sound, any other ideas?

OK, I may get blasted here but.
I was looking through the dll files, act files and such and I remember
seeing some comments on how somethings get disabled concerning
video and sound to, I'm guessing now, use SH3 controls.
I'll see if I can find that info again as it may be a good source of reference.
I also remember seeing a reference to DESTROYDEVICE LIST!
Any guesses to WHO THAT belongs to?

If you mean you have onboard sound on your motherboard as well as a sound card you need to disable the onboard sound in the bios

...and then you probably need to install the drivers for your soundcard.

Sorry I'm a noob to this stuff...how exactly do i "disable the onboard sound in the bios"?
also is intalling drivers the same as updating the soundcard?... I tried the update and nothing newer available.

First you have to make sure you have a soundcard installed.
Either open up the case, and have a look inside (check the PCI-slots, see motherboard manual), or disable onboard sound through BIOS, and expect a message from XP on bootup, that hardware is missing drivers > this hardware should be the soundcard, if any in your PC.

To enter the BIOS, watch the screen when you start the PC...during the 1st seconds, you will see a hint to press Del, to enter setup...this will put you into the BIOS.
You have to do it quickly, because the hint will disappear fast.
Once in the BIOS, you need to find the tab which has the onboard-sound setting (most likely looks like AC97) > disable it, hit F10 to save and exit, and the PC will restart.

Now if you have a soundcard installed, XP will warn you that there are no drivers installed.
Now you should check the cdrom that came with your soundcard, or check the manufacture's site for the latest drivers.
