I also have the steam version, and with the departure of Jamie from SCS I think I'm going to try downloading and manualy patching the steam install. Has anyone else tried this? I know Jamie said that they two versions are identical, the only problem was getting steam to recognize that DW needed to be patched.

Donīt try to manually install the patch (at least is the info Iīve got from STEAM). See below:

We're still working to get the steam patch up. I'll let you know as soon as it's ready.

I wouldn't ever purchase a Steam game. It has got to be the most intrusive service ever devised for the internet / computer based world.
Here are some snipets on Half Life 2 for example from a quick Google search on the subject:

Do yourself a favor and buy yourself a boxed version instead of downloading whatever steam game you want to own.

DW gets installed under steam as a directory under the steamapps directory. You might have to search a bit for it, as the steam directory structure is a bit crowded, but DW's directory is named (wait for it.....) "dangerous waters".
The Dangerous Waters directory has exactly the same structure as the CD (Battlefront) installed DW directory. Mods that affect only the database, graphics, and doctrines directories should be invisible to Steam.
Anything that touches the executables, or probably any of the .dll's, would most likely break the DW Steam install.
Just make a backup of the directories that will be touched by mods you are installing, BEFORE you install. That way you can back out the mods easily, install new patches from Steam, and then reinstall the mods (after making backups of the patched directories....)
I have not used JoneSofts JSME(?) against my Steam installed DW, I just do it manually, so I have no wise words about using it, but I see no reason it would not work.

I posted an update in the thread about the Steam patch. Basically, we're working with Valve to modify Steam for 1.04. I'll let the community know when I've got any more info.
Thanks!

The moderator has nothing to do with Sonalysts...only the fact that you placed the topic in the wrong forum. Also, the true Sonalysts forum website is here (http://www.sonalystscombatsims.com/phpBB/index.php).

If you are saying that you made a post on Steam's actual website...yes, I'd agree with you that it's not good PR if they didn't respond.
The way you worded your post is that you posted here in the general forum and the moderators here moved it to the DW forum. They moved it to DW as it pertains to Dangerous Waters as a good will gesture so that people who know about the subject could help you better.:rock:;);)
