Hey guys hows it going.

I was wondering if you could tell me what sound file it is that makes the crew cheer when you get the "She Going Down" message? I was just wanting to change it. The sound, at least for me, is redundant, meaning that after I strike the ship with the torpedo and wait till she finally sinks and the message pops up (sometimes hours later), when the sound file plays it has another torpedo strike explosion and then the crew cheering. Its a nice file don't get me wrong I was just wondering if I couldn't find it to change it to get rid of the explosion you here again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as well as a recommendation of different sound files for it.

Thank You.

The file itself is something like "oNa_Cheer1.ogg" or something like that in the german speech directory. Theres like 4 cheer files. GWX only uses the 1st or 2nd one. (the default engish one of the same name is just horrible)

Each numbered directory in a speech directory concides with the "speech index" thats defined in the crew configuration files. The cheer is acutally the control room mate at the valves station to the right of the planes operators. So if the man at the valves has a voice index of 4, then cheer1 or cheer 2 in the 4 directory in the german or English speech directories is what you will hear. Just an FYI.

All you really need to do is pick a cheer you like, rename it to oNa_Cheer1.ogg" or oNa_Cheer2.ogg" , and place it in all the numbered directories. I have my control room valve operator with a gutteral "Yeah!". Although i indexed him specifically so it sounded like my WO was cheering after a torpedo hit.

Anyone know of any better german sounding files and how I'd go about changing them? I've looked into some sound mods but all they change are the sounds rather than the speech.

My problem with playing the game in German is that i tend to LISTEN to what my crew is telling me, and as opposed to reading the text on the bottom. Often i'll take what is being said, and try to visualize whats going on around me.

That and sometimes ill turn the speakers up and be in the next room. I need to hear and understand what is being said.

I can't do any of that in german.

After a couple of patrols with German voices you pick up what is being said

Not how i play. I rarely pause the game, and when nature calls, it calls. Ill get up and take a leak and make myself another ice tea or grab another soda in the middle of an attack while the sonar man calls out the bearings.

When the targets gets to bearing something like 340ish or 165ish, time for me to get back to the keyboard :88)

In german all i hear is something like , " Klatu Nictu berratta plausem enphantom"

If your submerged the only time the crew shouts is a contact
Unless your sinking
Or a message but the morse gives that away

The English voices are so lame

The English voices are so lame

Not if you pick the right voice index's in your crew cfg. ;)
Beleive me, i hate "helium boy" or "girly man" as much as anyone. Some of the other voices are acutally done reasonably well.

Thank you, I'll have to download those the next time I get the chance.

How exactly do I install them? Put one of each sound file in each of the folders or what? I'm alittle confused and I'm sued to the DS telling me exactly what to do. Hey who says the military doesn't brainwash you:doh: :damn: :|\\

None of those mods have a cheer sound modded in them. Does anyone have a cheer sound they could upload?
