View Full Version : Flood Tube - sound & Speech files needed.
Hi all, a while ago it was made mention of a mod to add sound & or speech of torpedo tubes being flooded, I thought I might give this a go, including modding the sdl mixer file. But for the life of me I can't find a single sound or speech in german saying "Tube flooded" and "Flood Tube".:-? Could someone assist here, even if someone was to record their own voice I could always try mixing to blend in.:D

I think people mod the sound tied to the torpedo door when it opens....so its not a voice rather the sound effect when you open your torpedo hatch. When I open my torpedo door is when I hear rush of water sound flooding the tubes. Although this is not how they really work in real life its the added effect to flooding tubes in SH3. There is no function that I know of where you can flood your tubes before opening your torpedo doors. There isn't a function to drain your tubes in order to reload once the doors are closed. I think the only way to do this is add the sound directly before and after opening the torpedo doors. You just have to make sure you sound when you do add it matches the model animation.

Danlisa had the Idea of having it applied to the torpedo select switch, the sequence would be:
1) flood tube before opening door. (to keep noise down)
2) open outer door.
3) fire torpedo.
The 3 buttons to play with are the select torpedo, open door, & fire torpedo, it would be neccesary to adjust mixer settings to make sounds & speech work well.:)
Of cource it may turn out not worth the effort but I still need some files to test with, I would like to give it a go.:up: UNLESS it has already been done.:-?

In reference to this, I have replaced the TDC_TubeSelection.wav file with a new one which that simulates tubes flooding, however the new sound is not used in game. The original is still evident.
The new wav file is exactly the same encoding, format, channel & frequency. I have looked in the sh3.sdl file and notice that TDC_TubeSelection is not mentioned in there.
How do I get my new sound to work? This is in GWX.
Any Ideas?

Go for it! :up: but at a guess I'd say the answer lies in the sh3.sdl mixer file, anyway it's 1.15 am here so I'm off to bed!
