I was in the area of AM 36 & i sank a s-class submarine ! After a few i ran into the Carrier group the Illustrous & sank him with 4 torpedo's. After hours of being D/C .Im in a IXC. Got in deep waters & shut the game down ,Saving it as usual . Getting back into the game tonight was only by getting rid of that patrol & losing all that i had sunk. No other choice. I went through the whole precedure & the last screen you see is "Not so vey long ago" then crash .Any ideas out there. My computer surpasses all requirements Two GG's memory & a ATI Radium 9800 video with 256, dual core processer.http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/images/icons/icon8.gif

You didnt change anything in your game inbetween ?
So it only affects that patrol and not any new ones ?

You broke the cardinal rule of game saving in SH3. Don't save while submerged. That is probably your problem.

The famous Save & Load STOCK sh3 bug.

I wouldnt have saved the game if i had a good patrol

It crashed one later time as i was redoing the 16th patrol again, but this time it let me back into it with no further crashes and surprising enough with a excellant patrol & very stable ! Maybe just a fluke. Crashing continuely is probably the only thing that might make me quit & go back to g/w's 1.1 I know its only going to get harder as it goes but hell it is a ww 2 simulater isn't it ! Having worked a lifetime in Law Enforcement i made sure i didn't get addicted to anything, but i'm retired & addicted to this game. Thank you to all of trying to help

If I'm not mistaken (BB please correct me) Task forces are scripted in GWX, and SH3 has a bug stock one and unfixable when saving in the vicinity of a scripted unit (30 km) the scriped units lost all of their waypoints, resulting in unpredictable behaviour, my first crash in SH3 (stock version) was after sinking half of a convoy and saving when the dds where hunting me, I lost the entire career :nope:

You dont need correcting Ref
Some are scripted and some arent
The historical ones are but there are still a few random ones dotted about

Its one of those annoying SH3 bugs that doesnt always get you
Some never do
Sometimes using the save and exit will CTD a career
Sometimes saving submerged will lead to the crash dive of death
Sometimes you get no kill credits first patrol
The list goes on

A few players get them regulary and most never

Even just adding a gramaphone track inbetween can affect the game as I found to my cost, went to resume the patrol and ended up staring at a blank page.
