Mate, if you already have the mod from flbsale, just manually replace the periscope and UZO tga's. That way you can be sure no compatibility issues will crop up.

maybe Venatore wants to merge the default GWX periscope and UZO with the up-right target info panel from the tga's he's posted.

Could somebody tell me where can I d/l these nice tga's? I use the 6 slideout anzeigen mod but never came across Sale's peri UZO textures...

Are these available for download? If so where? Is it only necessary to replace the two tga's for this to work, or do you have to change other files?

Lot of thanks Gabriel
I hope you don't mind if I share the link to tga's with irish
http://hosted.filefront.com/GabrielSH3/

this is my new scope:
http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/7689/scope5mr.jpg

shame is this the up-right panel is not very suitable for manual targeting... not a big deal for me 'cos I'm never able to determine the range so I have to rely on my WO

and two small suggestions
- I reduced some text loaded from en_menu.txt to not cover the labels already on the main texture

en_menu.txt:
;orig 2001=SHIP:
2001=S
;orig 2002=RANGE:
2002=R
;orig 2003=ANGLE ON BOW:
2003=A
;orig 2004=SPEED:
2004=S

or even better would be to delete the german labels from the tga and use the original text from from en_menu (or de_menu) of course it would require some slight color and position changes in menu1024.ini

- I've also changed the color of the tick and cross from orange to less visible%2

I just dropped the two tga file into the JSGME , but when playing the game there is small letters on the bottom right side ???? I don't want the whole sim feeling mod just those great looking periscope/UZO :cry:

Gerlat,
can you make your tga's have the rim of the periscope and bino of the UZO like the the ones that I uploaded ?

Ok,
my final new attack scope. I removed the original labels from the tga and I use these that comes from en_menu.txt to have them the same font as 'aft/fore tubes, gyroangle' (yes it's german on the pic although I use other texts english... it's just for immersion I like some german in the scope view)
To achive this you also need to edit the menu.ini, to tweak the buttons ship, range, angle on bow, speed
eg.the speed button (defalt black - orange when mouse is over)

[G26 I105]
Name=Speed
Type=1032;Button
ItemID=0x26040044
ParentID=0x26040000
;Pos=33,-184,130,16
Pos=55,-184,130,16 ;slight position change
Color=0xFFFFFF00
Materials=4
Display=0;No stretch
Mat 0=data/menu/gui/layout/bkgr.tga
Mat 1=data/menu/gui/layout/bkgr.tga
Mat 2=data/menu/gui/layout/bkgr.tga
Mat 3=data/menu/gui/layout/bkgr.tga
MatFlags=0x1
TexFmt=0x9
Font=5
Text=2004
TextFlags=0x4
;StatesColors=0xFF0000FF, 0x00FF00FF, 0x0000FFFF, 0xDD55CCFF
StatesColors=0xFF0000FF, 0xB4B4B4FE, 0xFF0000BB, 0xFF0000FF ; some color changes edit for your own taste so now the screen:
http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/3943/myscope5ob.th.jpg (http://img208.imageshack.us/my.php?image=myscope5ob.jpg)

I left the obs scope texture as it was so I could do some manual targeting from there and it's another thing to make the obs different from attack (along with the TDC slideout)
my obs:
http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/2420/myobs7wz.th.jpg (http://img225.imageshack.us/my.php?image=myobs7wz.jpg)

well, the reason the original labels (ship, range...) are still is clear as I wrote above.
merged stock GWX scope with the panel:
http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/126/periscopegwxpanelcopy7aj.th.jpg (http://img225.imageshack.us/my.php?image=periscopegwxpanelcopy7aj.jpg)
the same with cleared labels:
http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/2834/periscopegwxpanelcleare4op.th.jpg (http://img262.imageshack.us/my.php?image=periscopegwxpanelcleare4op.jpg)

and don't forget I'm not kind of artist I just do this for my personal needs (dark CRT as you can see all my tga's are a bit darker it's because of I can't stand shinny backround when playing at night) and pleasure

actually I don't know what kind of little letters are you talking about ... so no confusion here;)
I tried to descibe the reason and how to get rid of the orignal labels 'ship, range, AOB, speed' (on my pics in german and ziel (target) instead of ship). As you can see these labels are still there on the obs scope pic in their original position and color. The example I gave in the code shoes what to edit to make them white (light grey) and move them to fit the new position.

I recommend to use the 'cleared label' version and to play a bit with the menu.ini file so you can have the lables in english and the the same font as aft/fore tubes...

Ok this is the new problem :shifty: see on the two pictures ubove, see the bottom right hand side, theres a torpdeo control, that isen't in my game, but the the letters on that control are :hmm: when I press the del key to make my bottom information bar disappear this is when I notice the little letters?

Greetings

Gabriel

well, doesn't matter if german or english labels...
may be it's my poor english, I'll try to explain it the most simple way:

- the original files have the labels written in german directly in the TGA
- the game doesn't know it and it uses the default labels (black) as it's specified in the menu.ini
- that's why the black text covers the german labels (not a big deal but I do mind it)... you can see it on pics posted by Gabriel

my solution (I admit not the easiest):
- I removed the german texts from tga's to make place for the default text labels from menu.ini
- but they are black so appear invisible and in bad position
- this can be solved in tne menu.ini file
example:
[G26 I105] ;group periscope
Name=Speed
Type=1032;Button ; this is the button speed
ItemID=0x26040044
ParentID=0x26040000
;Pos=33,-184,130,16
Pos=55,-184,130,16 ;changed position a bit to right
Color=0xFFFFFF00
Materials=4
Display=0;No stretch
Mat 0=data/menu/gui/layout/bkgr.tga
Mat 1=data/menu/gui/layout/bkgr.tga
Mat 2=data/menu/gui/layout/bkgr.tga
Mat 3=data/menu/gui/layout/bkgr.tga
MatFlags=0x1
TexFmt=0x9
Font=5
Text=2004 ; this says the game looks in the en_menu/de_menu.txt depends which languege is selected in options so the dispalyed text is 'SPHI/GEGNERFAHRT' or whatever is specifeied in *menu.txt on the line 2004='some text'
TextFlags=0x4
;StatesColors=0x111111FF, 0x111111FF, 0x774411FF, 0x774411FF ; original colors black 111111FF and orange 774411FF
StatesColors=0xFF0000FF, 0xB4B4B4FE, 0xFF0000BB, 0xFF0000FF; changed colors to white B4B4B4FE and dark red FF0000BB

the result of all these changes you can see on my pics posted above
the main reason I chose this way is that the dispalyed text depends on your prefered languege not the used tga

well now we know the problem
I suppose you don't want use the torpedo control panel
so to get rid of the letters you'll have find and disable them in the menu1024.ini file
I'm using slightly different tdc console (slides from the top of the screen and contains also salvo management) so I don't know exactly what blocks you should edit. Gabriel could help or Venatore post here your whole G26 section from your menu1024.ini

some good news... UZO with the panel (I've got both original german and cleared labels)

it's not perfect cos I'm not good at editing shadows etc. I always use black backround so I don't need it

well I don't like the boxed stopwatch it take too much space in the UZO view (and I've got the dragable one boxed) so I took the panel from your (sale's) tga's played a bit removing the stopwatch texture on the left side of the panel and then I can put this 'new' panel into any tga...
I also removed the german labels from tga

basically all you have to do:
- removed the german labels from tga
- change the color of the 'default' labels from black to white to make them visible on black background (done in menu1024.ini)

I tried to show the way a few posts above.
Look on my final scope and you'll see the result. The label's language depends only on what's written in the en_menu/de_menu.txt

I use english as default language but I've changed the en_menu.txt to show german text in the scope view

original neutralized part of menu.txt

well that's easy
try to read my last post in this thread it should explain something
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=103989

Almost all text colors can be changed through menu1024.ini but as I wrote the main console requires differnt approach.

I'm 'red positive' cos I play mostly during night and hate shiny bright colors.

I use some parts of Sober's rig for red mod, my own custom colored font tga a colored integrated orders.

edit/ or send me PM with your email I'll send you all necessary files and some info

What mod that is 100% compatiable with GWX gives me this view? I've download sim feeling but the game crashes?

Garbiel said that he was using this in GWX ?

changing the scope/uzo tga's is 100% compatible with any mod, it's only texture, tha game calls for periscope.tga and the tga is where it should be so no problems here
a bit pain could be using different mods when each of them comes with it's own menu1024.ini file... then you usually have to merge the menu1024.ini manually
if you are interested I can send you the modified tga's (GWX+panel) and if you are really interested I'll post here what to do step by step to get the text to it's proper place
and for the 'low right small letter' issue all I can do is to look in your menu1024.ini (section G26 is attack scope) to find which blocks are responsible for the small letters... are they also in the UZO view?

ok now I understand
so you've got letters and dials but no background and they are not sliding away and you want them
if you want I can add the the missing background to the scope/uzo tga's but usually the texture is stanalone

pls check 2 things
1) go to data\menu\gui\layout folder and look for file call perihintergrund.tga and perihinteegrund2.tga
Have you got them?

2) open your menu1024.ini (data\menu folder) and check if some block calls the prerihitergrund.tga or perihinteegrund2.tga
simply ctrl-F for these tga's
the block should be [G26 Ixxx]
are there any?

The answer to the second question is "yes" I have all the [G26 Ixxx] entries.

of course you've got all g26 ixxx entries
the question is if any of the g26 ixxx blocks calls for the perihintergrund.tga
so in other words if there is this string

@ Venatore
Ok... no need to be pissed off
now 3 possible solutions:
1] copy the perihintergrund.tga and perihintergrund2.tga to data\menu\gui\layout you can get it here as a part of mod
http://www.ducimus.net/sh3/release/T...TDC_For_GWX.7z (http://www.ducimus.net/sh3/release/TW_PeriTDC_For_GWX.7z)
I suggest to do it through JSGME
you need only the 2 tga's
I assume this shlould solve your problem

OR
2] I can make the default peri/uzo textures to looks like this:
http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/9535/periscopegwxpanelcleare3nt.th.jpg (http://img262.imageshack.us/my.php?image=periscopegwxpanelcleare3nt.jpg)

OR
3] get rid of the low-right dials and use slideout tdc panel
http://img178.imageshack.us/img178/4986/tdcslide2lo.th.jpg (http://img178.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tdcslide2lo.jpg)

---------------------------------------------
it's a pity you constantly refuse (no offence) looking in the menu1024.ini even posting here it's content... maybe you don't have enough time to mess with it

but come on...
the structure of this file could look a bit confusing but in fact it's pretty simple

small example from menu1024.ini:

[G26 I23]; g26 means 'group attack scope' this is specified in the beginning of the file, I23 is item number
Name=Aft tubes text; name of the block for good orientation
Type=1029;Static text; type static text means not clickable text
ItemID=0x26110002; don't care for this time
;ItemID=0x26110003
ParentID=0x26110000; don't care for this time
Pos=3,-7,85,36; position in pixels on the screen 3 on axis x, -7 on y, 85,36 is the size of this static text array again in pixels
Color=0xB4B4B4FE; simply color in hex (RRGGBB) of the displayed text B4B4B4 is ligt grey
Font=5; type of used font... fonts are specified in the beginning of the file e.g. Font5=DATA/Menu/Fonts/FPHunt15.tga
Text=2012; the displayed text is in en_menu.txt where 2012=AFT tUBES
TextFlags=0x15

[G26 I24]
Name=Bkgr
Type=1030;Static bmp; display some bmp
ItemID=0x26110001
;ItemID=0x26110002
ParentID=0x26110000
Pos=3,-7,85,37
Materials=1
Display=0;No stretch
Mat 0=data/menu/gui/Periscope.tga; goto periscope.tga
Crop 0=0.773438,0.808594,0.0566406,0.0273438; crop this area
MatFlags=0x21
TexFmt=0x9

as a result of the 2 blocks above you can see this in the game:

To be honest, I'm also confused here. That said, your last post explaining a little of how menu works does shed some light. Perhapps you can write a quick summary titled "how to modify the TGA files for UZO/Periscope"....i ask because I have the slide out TDC mod for NYGM but I find the scope and uzo too bright during nigt time. I also would like the open/close torpedo doors switch in bottom right hand corner of your pics.

Any knowledge you can share would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Hans.

Thanks, Hans.

first your questions then menu1024.ini the post became tooooo long

so you want darker scope/UZO view
- this is simple... just open the periscope/uzo.tga in some editor and adjust the brihgtness/lightness to mach your needs, save the tga and that's all
- as for the torpedo doors switch sorry I don't have any... I use only the slideout mod as you can see on the screen in the above post
--------------------------------------------------------------------

now move to the menu1024.ini

well, actually I thought it's well known how menu1024.ini works
if you're really interested I can write a few words what I've learned when I was adjusting the GUI to satisfy my personal and specific needs (I've got dark CRT so no shiny/bright colors are allowed) but don't expect too much from me my knowledge is still limited in some areas...

please keep in mind english is not my first language and forgive me the mistakes...

Basically the menu_1024_768.ini (menu1024 in further text) is resposible for all non 3D rendered graphics (all F* screens menu screens etc.).
All examples are from my tweaked menu1024 your values could differ.

it's difficult where to start so try it from the beginning:

Font1=DATA/Menu/Fonts/FPCond14.tga

Font5=DATA/Menu/Fonts/FPHunt15.tga
Font6=DATA/Menu/Fonts/FPSmall.tga
.
.
.
etc.
here are specified the fonts used in game
in some block is written e.g. 'font=4' - it means the game will use the font stored FPHunt12.tga file
You can view all font tga's in many various editors the only condition is the are capable to show the alpha channel

small example of some game fonts:

next part

[Settings]
SlidingSpeed=3300;pixels per second
CmdStatesColors=0x00FF00FF, 0xFF0000FF, 0x0000FFFF, 0x1155AAFF
sliding speed determines how fast are the slideout gauges/console moving
I'm not sure what the cmdstatecolors means in this palce

but something about colors...
as is said above the color is specified as a combination of hex values 0xRRGGBBFF, the last two letters FF means the opacity/lightness, FF is 100% opacity/max visibility when 00 is invisible
so
color=0xFF0000FF is red
color=0x00FF00FF is green
color=0x0000FFFF is blue
color=0xFFFFFFFF is white
color=0x000000FF is black
color=0x222222FF is dark grey
color=0xBBBBBBFF is light grey
etc.

move on

here are specified the groups
all blocks which begin with G26 Ixxx are related to the attack scoep screen... G28 to UZO... G3F is the layout (you see it all the time - officers, console, dials...)

one note: the semicolon neutralizes all contant behind it, it's suitbale for writing personal changes tsc.
so the game sees: 24=28 not the 24=28; page uzo

ok now the most interesting
e.g. the G26 menugroup attack scope

[G26 I1]
Name=Page attack periscope
Type=1027;Menu page
ItemID=0x26000000
ParentID=0x0
Pos=0,0,0,0
LoadingMode=2
the first block nothing important here

[G26 I11]
Name=RedLight
Type=1026;Menu group
ItemID=0x26120000
ParentID=0x26000000
Pos=-2,767,1024,768
Color=0xFFFFFFFF
beginning of the redmask section used during nightime
- I 11 block is Menu group, it means all following blocks belong to this group until other group starts (you'll see)
- it's positioned -2 pixels on axis x and 767pixels on axis y where the 0,0 point is the low left cornet of the screen
- its size is 1024 pixels on x and 768 on y

[G26 I12]
Name=BottomRight
Type=1030;Static bmp

MatFlags=0x9
TexFmt=0x29
beginning of the redmask section
- I 12 block in static bmp, means its some kind of "picture"
- it's positioned.... and it's sized.... but now the origin 0,0 is the low left corner of the redlight menugroup
- semicolon cancels the original 960000 color which I found to bright
- color 55000055 is dark red , and the last 55 means opacity (not 55% remeber it's in hex)
Mat 0=data/menu/gui/redmask.tga says the game to go to the redmask.tga and
Crop 0=1,1,-1,-1 crop some part of it and then display it

blocks I12-I19 are still about the redmask

[G26 I20]

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;Flaggen;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; ;;;;
please don't be confused
this is block for the dragable flag sheet placed in the high left corner... the reason it's here is to be above all the buttons and labels, this is determined by the Ixxx number
only blocks with lower Ixxx can appear above so in fact it's only the redmask
now back to the aft tubes label

[G26 I23]
Name=Aft tubes text
Type=1029;Static text
ItemID=0x26110002

Color=0xB4B4B4FE
Font=5
Text=2012
TextFlags=0x15
this is explained in mt previous post above
position is realted to the aft tubes menugroup
Color=0xB4B4B4FE is light grey cos the pure white is too bright
font=5 means the FPHunt15.tga file will be used
Text=2012 look to your en/de_menu.txt you should find 2012=AFT TUBES in english or BUG ROHRE in german

[G26 I24]
Name=Bkgr

this is the backgroud table behind the aft tubes text
ot says go the the periscope.tga file crop specified part and dispaly it

exactly the same situation is for the fore tubes text... menu group, text and background

please note the colored numbers behind itemID and parentID
I think it's better to understand it when you look at it than me trying to explain it with my limited english

OK I hope this helps for now
I'll add some pictures and more explanation later
