Hello,
This maybe silly, boring, or not even possible, but what file would I edit to allow a type II or VII to be available in say 1938? I was wanting to play around a bit and was wondering if starting a SH3 career before 9/1/39 is even possible.

Thanks!

Is probably indeed possible but the amount of files needed to be altered would be a huge amount I think

Would be nice to start around the 20th Aug and head out to the Atlantic to be on station as many boats did

you can make a single mission in 38 if you want, sail around scapa unmolested. Good for recon purposes :rotfl:
Wonder if you can make it in to scapa in a 39 career... then war breaks out...ARRGGGHHHH

There arenīt many files needed to be changed!!
I just did that and will include that into my mod as the capture of Gdansk is a bigger part of my campaign. But what I did is not just change some files and then start at that time.. historical traffic (sub patrols, minelay operation), radio message is also important I think.
So.. if you want to... you have to look into "data/cfg/flotilla.cfg", start time and patrol areas have to be changed.

It's not hard to do at all. Problem is, SH3 starts you on the first day of the month, so dates like 20 Aug are not possible.

There was an intention of adding a pre-Sep 39 start date to RUb months ago (well, we did, and tested it too), and also allowing it in SH3Cmdr, but starting on 1 August 1939 (let alone any earlier month) was not considered overly beneficial as in trusty Type IIA, or even VIIB, you'll be getting back into base, empty handed, before the war even starts, rather than being "ready" at sea as was the rationale for wanting to incorporate it.

Well, hardcore players could start August 1 and then just sit there until the 20th.:rotfl:

Why not just start on 1 Aug. then dock and set number of days in base to 20?

Sounds interesting, let us know when its ready, I'd like to give it a run!
