View Full Version : Possible workaround for pos. buoyancy effect?

I'm thinking about changing periscope depth by adding 1-2 meters for the type VII. My observation was that per.d. is set to 12m and when I lurk with engines halted the boat rises to 10m. This is enough to pop out the top of the conning tower so ships can spot me.

That's why I wanna try that and my question is, is it enough to change the pd value in the uboat configs (NSS_Uboat7b.cfg etc)?

Oh and another question:
Recently I fired a spread of 4 torps on a distant convoy (couldn't get a better position, it was in the Channel) and miraculously I scored a hit on an unidentified ship which sunk. The external cam showed me that it flew british flags, but on the map the icon was grey. How did this ship score for me, as an enemy ship sunk, as a neutral sunk or nothing at all because it wasn't identified?

That's the whole idea of the mod. In real life they couldn't stop and stand still; the boat would rise or sink. The real complaint should be that it only rises two metres; it should keep rising until it's decks awash.

As to your second question: look at the scoresheet at the end of the patrol. It will tell you. It should be enemy.

Sometimes they show grey due to weather sinkings others as a result of your actions but your range is extreme
As long as you get renoun it doesnt matter lol

Yes you can just adjust the PD depth in the subs cfg by 2 mtr less

Yeah, I just tried and it works indeed (setting pd I mean).
