Hi to all,
I created a GUI mod for GWX which removes swastikas from all textures and user interfaces in game, add Imperial (Second Reich) flag for German ships, and I created a “dress version uniforms” for Officers and Petty Officers. Can you tell me how I can upload this mini mod to Radio Rooms forum? I add few pictures of my mod. click on links:

Interesting, but what for is this mod?
Uboots from 2nd WW and uniforms from 1st WW :hmm:
Hi mate, removing the swastikas from the game is probably a good thing for some german users who feel it is necessary, but i'm not sure I like the idea of replacing it with WW1 content.
On that topic, i haven't recieved any complaints from the German community yet.

I can understand the reasons why some people will want to remove the swasticas, although I think it's just a game and we should not get stuck into politics. Obviously that's just my opinion and I don't try to force it to anybody. In any case I'm sure if it is needed the GWX Team can generate a 'remove swasticas' optional add-on (I think it exists for SH3/GW1.1a but I haven't seen it for ages)

I discovered it was a touchy subject in Germany. I think it is a legal issue for all games having a german version. I remember in Combat Mission had to install a patch to have the real WW2 flags, some SS troops had also been given another name...

Just an FYI for everyone... Swastika removal option is on the radar for GWX prior to final release in the spring.
My concern is that whatever we replace it with... must look good as a substitute. We had hoped to release such a thing for GWX 1.0... but it would have meant further delays... and the subsequent lynching mob trying to figure out where they could find me to take out their frustrations.

I must say one thing, keep this thread in good taste everyone, don't need Gizmoe to flex his muscles, I already got a bad taste in my mouth about this thread. Someone is gonna be a smart ass, and get it closed if not careful, lets all behave.:)

Hi,
well about the swasticas, they are forbidden in germany (when you use them public, except its for movies or other artwork) thats why germans peeps like me get always cuted games. Well i dont like the **** what happens between 33-45 nearly all germans not proud of it, but its our histroy so we must life with that. Sorry dont want to offence someone or anything like that.
Its always a great discussion in germany so i would prefer a version to remove swasticas form the mod, would make all peeps happy that dont want to play with swasticas.
For my person i dont have any problems with the swasticas in that mod its more realistic but thats only my opinion.
Greetings

P.S. Sorry for my bad english :)

I am Belgian, and I don't really care if swasticas are illegal here or not. As far as I'm concerned, the historical accuracy of a game has nothing to do with one's inclination to politics. I can understand that a retail game cannot afford the luxury of being historically accurate up to that level, and critics will always find a way to censor a product, but it's nice to see that this is possible in a mod. Don't forget that before the National Socialist Party used it in WWII, the swastica was and still is a symbol that represents "luck and fortune" in Bouddhism.
This is a little off topic here as SH3 is a WWII sub sim from the German point of view, but let's be honest here (one should always be but..) Playing a WWII simulation where both sides are depicted, incorporating swasticas, doesn't make you a Nazi.
As for the players of this game, some want it, some don't and it's always a good thing to keep both choices available as to let everybody decide for themselves.
just my 2 cents.

Lets not go any farther here. It will only turn into a rotten bog.
As I have stated, prior to the final release of GWX there will be a "swastika removal" mod available integrally to be compliant with German law.
No opinions are necessary. (No offence is meant to anyone.) Swastikas modelled in GWX are not intended to make any sort of statement... They are there simply to reflect historical accuracy... as are the flags of other axis nations... and all combatants available in GWX. Every effort was made to emplace the correct flag for each country involved based on the timeframe using the flags of the day.
Quoted verbatim from our manual... similar disclaimer is even emplaced on the GWX installer text:
"We have dedicated this mod package to the enhancement and enjoyment of World War II submarine simulations, NOT the promotion of ANY political or philosophical views."
