Hi all.
Eternal thanks to the authors of GWX and Sh3Gen.
Now the point : is there any risk in using Sh3Gen with GWX (as the expansion is more deeply modifying the game....) ? I m afraid Sh3gen could ruin the minutely crafted scripted GWX operations.....
Thanks for any experience by valiant mariners.
Sorry if this has already been addressed elsewhere.

SH3 Gen is compatible with GWX. If you are worried, copy the campaign folder of GWX and create a backup. (if anything should go wrong).

SH3 Gen doesn't write anything in the game files, but only in save files. It alse makes a backup folder inside the save folder where you applied it.
No risk whatsoever of messing up anything...

PS : @ Danlisa : I think the save of Campaign folder appies to SH3 Weather, not SH3 Gen...

Feel free to use SH3Gen with GWX. They are compatible and you shouldn't see any problems in your game.

Thanks for the swift replies and the good news.
I feel lucky....Sh3Commander + GWX + Sh3Gen seems to be my winning ticket.
I only lack an editable in mission logbook....( a la SH2).
Happy hunting to you all (now currently off Bergen in september 1939, probably tracking a neutral cargo in awful weather just to hone my skills)

I don't see any problem in using this combination right now.

As a precaution for new users I recommend creating two savegames and running Sh3Gen on the second one - in that case you can always load the first one if you have a problem. Once you have seen how it works and got enough confidence, you will skip that, because there shouldn't be problems. As was correctly pointed out by another user, Sh3Gen always creates a backup copy when it writes to a file for the 1st time, just in case.

Keeping a log is possible by manually editing the .clg file that accompanies your savegame, but some basic understanding of config files is of course required.

I am surprised no one is offering a log editor, because it should be very easy to write.

Thanks for the precision dear GlobalExplorer.
However it seems it is in fact HARD to keep a diary in mission (editing afterwards is not that much interesting). Don't know why they didn't include one. Personally I write my own report on plain old paper..... In fact it really helps tracking contacts.

Yes, in the end paper is the best.

Roger that... sometimes there's just no substitute for a hardcopy.

SH3 Gen is on my short list of things to really check out after our final update in the spring... when I REALLY get to sail.

Well I haven't released anything in 6 months but it works well with GWX - have played myself during the holidays. Usefulness of map info about ports is reduced because of the stronger AI in GWX, especially in shallow waters, but the additional log text is still very useful, I think :)

Unfortunately the concept can not go much further because of the restrictions in the game engine - let's hope applications like this become superfluous with SHIV.
