Well gents had the first big scare of 2007 (which is a lot less than some poor sods have to put up with) when playing GWX. At least I hope you guys are not going to tell me my computer I thought I fixed is about to die.

Well I finally (after playing nearly every single mission) decided to start a new career....SHC 2.7, GWX unmodded except for the no medals on crew, Penang and Captain America icons. (Plus the Dec 23 fix).

1st Flotilla, April 43 (I am a sucker) type VIIC decided to go to BF 54 to do a short training patrol (so I could then get my crew qualified next trip out). All is fine enjoying the ride watching out for planes then I hit F5 and decide to scroll back to the Eastern Med to doublecheck something.

:damn::damn::damn:

Black screen and then a hang for a minute or so and the dialogue box "SH3 has encountered a blah blah blah" while I pressed the on off button to restart my computer. Turned off then restart.

Oh shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii....BSOD windows would not boot becasue of a "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME" My HARD DISK??????????????? Then a bunch of numbers I wrote down. Well I tried booting with my Dell recovery cd...went to "XP repair mode" and choose "fixboot."

Well then ran chkdks and all seems ok. SH3 seems ok but don't want to paly it tonight. Erased the new career. Anything else? What did I do wrong? WHY is this map scroll bug still not fixed, GWX is GREAT but honestly the SH series is the buggiest series I have ever played. SH2 gave me problems on my old and this machine...(this one is also old now 1.8 768 Meg Ram and Nvidia 5200 though very well tuned I get acceptable to decent performance with my games like SH3 and IL2).

Going out for a walk now. :dead:

Jim, crossing everything? That's gotta hurt. LOL

Joea, are you using ZoneAlarm with Antivirus? I had kind of the same thing but it was a Memory Dump. Got rid of ZoneAlarm, went to Windows Firewall and all is well again. Only using that, SpySweeper and AVGFree Antivirus and not the problem again. AntiVirus was shtoff in ZoneAlarm but there could have bee a conflict with AVG. Just an thought mind you and it might not be related at all.

No I recently installed AVG antispyware, mind you I shut everything down with FSauto. At least I thought I did. :hmm: Will check into that.
