Hi guys,
a litte question about this optional MOD in GWX.
Is it only to extend the visual player up to 16km?
Or it improve the visual acuteness of the watch crew as well?

Effectively everyone gets x2 from the normal install. Most say the 16000atm is more closely to real.

OK guys, I got it!
BUT...
in real life a watch crew in a sunny day with a very calm sea shouldn't see more to 16Km?

In real life it is not as clear cut. In ideal conditions the watch crew would probably see beyond 16k, maybe 20-25k depending on how tall the ship is, or how much smoke from the convoy. The higher the watch position, the further over the horizon they can see, assuming very clear visibility conditions. Watch on a battleship would probably see another battleship out to 30-40k. 16k for a uboat is a good compromise, and much more realistic than the stock 8k.

biggest drawback of the 16km is all get very very dark!

Hello,
Is it possible to install the 16K visibility mod after I have already installed GWX without the 16k mod? Or do I have to uninstall the whole deal, and reinstall SHII,GWX and then select 16K?

Well GWX by default installs without the 16K mod.That is an optional mod that you enable with the JSGME mod enabler that comes with the GWX install.
Just click the JSGME.exe file in the SH3 folder and choose the 16K mod and enable it.

yeah i know,,,,,,,,,,when i enable 16kmod I get black skies and light gray water, so I don’t enable it. :cry:
When I enable the 16 km, I get some artefacts at the horizon, visible only at night. It's something like distant mountains, first I thought that it was the shoreline, but I was in the middle of Atlantic. In GW I did not face this problem, and I used to play with 16 km enabled.

works in nygm also currently using that mod with nygm works great
again... pls some1 help with teh black sky thingie. i wanna use 16k mod.

some1 has to know whats wrong with it :(
i have a clean install. patched and gwx installed over it. the other mods work fine, cept the 16k visi. it gives me a black sky...

Ok, we had some problems with a black sky before. We found that it was 99% due to not rolling back SH3Cmdr before activating the 16km ATM.
Do this....
Be in port.
Rollback SH3Cmdr.
Disable your 16KM ATM
Use this file - http://files.filefront.com/GWX___16km_Atmosphererar/;6374760;;/fileinfo.html
Unpack to your mods folder and enable.
Restart via SH3Cmdr.
Should fix it.:up:

Bit of a dead thread I know but just in case someone else strolls in......the 16KM mod does have dark nights BUT I don't think they're too dark....in fact I think it really adds to night time tracking and targeting.
Just my tuppence worth.
