What are the conditions, to have the best chance of finding a mp-game? (apart from visiting the mp-matchup forum, that is)

Do you need a "clean" SH3 (fully patched) + GWX + Dec23rd Corrections?
What happens if you enabled the GWX16km Atmosphere - like I did, while others haven't, for example?

Yep...that is all you need :yep:

Then you get a ctd :yep:

Proir to a MP game we all agree what mods if any we will use...it is vitally important that everybody agrees in advance in order that a dreaded 'ctd' does not occur. :damn:

FYI....MP games usually commence most evenings 1900 GMT.

I remember having tried mp not long after SH3 came out, and I didn't like it that much I think.
Must have been a mix of things I didn't like, and I played sp eversince.

Do you still need to press Enter, to enter Chat? :damn:
That was annoying, as it also fires a fish.
I disabled the Enter-key...will I still be able to chat ingame?
And the whole mp-browser was poorly designed.
No idea if this has been improved?
And how about diff.settings? Can I read a server's settings in the browser, or do I just get a general easy/normal/hard?
There was this mp-game that I joined...(I always play with WO assistance offline)...thought it said Normal, but I still had to do everything myself.

So, there we were, three of us. Me, MrChris & WilhemSchultz attacking a convoy. I launched a salvo of 3 torpedos against a juicy passenger liner and two of them hit. I immediatly launched a fourth torpedo and just as it was hitting the ship, two or three MrChris´ torpedos struck the PL and sunk it!!

You know the first time I used mission editor I used it not for a sub sim but to model the battle of Jutland. it was Great. it really wouldnt be hard to set up a head to head multiplayer to watch a shootout between three iowas and two yamatos. (that is if somebody has a Yamato somewhere)the difficulty is in the engagement range you end up flitting back and forth between surface groups,
using . & , or free cam on pause with the controls removed (num pad del)
You can change the engagement range by changing the AI weapons ranges prior to scenario but being GWX types I doubt you'll want to and change them back after.MM.

"being GWX types" does not stop us from trying out a variety of missions. :nope:
Just yesterday I attempted to play a mission between German and American surface groups that included the Seydlitz (Graf Zeppelin) carrier, Bismarck, Tirpitz, Iowa, Nevada and accompanying cruisers (both heavy and light and destroyers :yep:
Sadly my pc couldn't handle the strain and wouldn't let me load it :oops:

As I said before Azn your specs are on the low side for the game alone let alone the added burden of MP

I have all but given up on the MP side as my comp takes forever to load the games and I get CTD if the area is real busy with shipping and explosions

My system is low end too
AMD 2300+ which is 1.79 Ghz
1024Mb Ram and Radeon 9250 graphics card

No chance of me upgrading in the near future so I stick with the limitations of the machine

Yesterday on the entrance of the English Channel. Weather: Wind 12, light fog, partial overcast.
Convoy sightet.:rock: But I was behind the convoy.:shifty: So I hat to go my way around the convoy and keep contact only on DDs. The DDs where very good in keeping Uboots away from the convoy.:down: The flank keeping DD kept going on nomal speed on changing courses away from the convoy, so I hat to go away to keep him out of sight. But when he was aprox. 10000yds distens from the convoy, and I another 8000yds from him, he speed up to over 30kts and returnt to the convoy. So I hat to go at the highest posibile speed to near the convoy. Every time it costs me many minutes to get the convoy in sight again, one time the convoy changed course away from me as I was at the greatest distance, so I very nearly lost contakt with the convoy. It took me over 4 hours to get around the convoy to get in a good position to dive for a periscopeattack. But it paid of. 2big tankers and an Iron Ore frighter :D with 5 torps. and all of this with 1x time.
Here 2 pictures of the enemeycourses I took during the hunt.
I tried to get a enemeyposition every 6 minutes, but because of visual disappierens I couldnt keep my count all the time.
I marked the convoyroute with black and the DD courses with red.
