Hi, I'm a long time lurker, but so far never had a problem that wasn't already discussed here, this time it's different.
I've downloaded the GWX files from the GWX website. A check with MD5 told me that the .exe and -1.bin were OK, the others not. Tough luck I thought and downloaded the corrupt files again, another MD5 check told me .exe and -4.bin OK, the others not (including the -1.bin that was OK on the first check). An attempt to install anyway resulted in an error message (corrupt file).
Since then I've downloaded all the files several times from several mirrors on two different internet connections, always with the same result: some files are not OK on the first check, and those that were OK on the first check aren't on the second or third, except for the .exe which is always OK. It doesn't matter whether I use the .md5 file or the hash string. So, is it remotly possible for a .bin file to be corrupted by an MD5 check? If not, what may be the problem here?

Try this MD5 file. The original one was bad.

Yes, I knew that, I actually used this .md5 file all along. Still tried again with freshly downloaded GWX files.
First check: .exe -1.bin -2.bin -3.bin OK, -4.bin and -5.bin not OK
Second check: .exe -2.bin OK, rest not OK
Third check: .exe OK, rest not OK

Thatīs very strange, as you have downloaded it from several mirrors. :hmm:

I donīt how I can help you. JScones is out until early january IIRC. He is the man in this matter.

Let's wait for help from others.;)

If you open the MD5 compare program
Click on the first tab
Compare single file

Point box 1 to a bin file

In box 2 copy and paste the hash for the bin you chose
The hash's for each bin are posted underneath them on the release page
http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/GWX/

ie bin 1 = dd49c260f3f6f7bb0d93de6bef5f3462
5718672a436a2426cda748fe45d9c6f7 is bin 2 etc

one guy reported he had a corrupt md5compare, after he re-downloaded it
everything checked out fine.

Thanks for the suggestion, seems like there is now a second guy who can report this. Dowloaded MD5 Compare again and just to be sure another file compare programm, all files checked out OK:sunny:.
It kind of sucks when the corruption detector is itself corrupted.

Wow, didn't know there was a bad md5compare out there. Sure glad the files are ok. Maybe you can tell us when and where you got that md5compare so if it is coming from the team, they can replace it.

Well, I don't think it was a bad version, but rather a bad download/installation. I downloaded the second one from the same source as the first one.
