View Full Version : Type VIIF
This would be an amazing boat to have in the game ... i know only 4 of them where built but since we have VCII/42 and none was built
the Type VIIF was bigger by 10.5 meters than the regular VIIC
and could carry more 24 EXTRA torpedos than VIIC boats . some sources mention that these boats, designed in 1941, were primarily built as torpedo transports and were never fitted with the typical 88mm deck guns found on other VII type boats. They had 5 torpedo tubes (4 at the bow and 1 at the stern) and as attack boats they would carry 14 torpedoes but in their transport role they would have up to 39 torpedoes onboard.
the Type VIIF could take 2 more crewmen and i had refrigerated food
storage , it was faster in average by a knot than the VIIC either on surface
or submerged.
the main purpose of this boats was to take extra torpedos to the u-boats in the front line and suport for the monsun boats
U-1059 U-1060 U-1061 U-1062
Sounds very similar to a type 9 thiough. or maybe its a halfway point between a 7 and a 9.
There isn't much point to haveing a supply boat if there are no other boats to supply.

I think he just wants to use all the 39 torpedoes himself!
Maybe the VIIFs are the Milkcows we have for our resupply. ;)
But then again, 39 torpedoes does sound nice. Think about it, it's the tonnage we want. Besides, my crew is sick of spoiled food. They want refrigerated food storage asap. ;) LOL
i would like to have it really ... as well as supply missions
mine laying missions would also be nice with the type VIID only 6 of these
where built
The problem is that no one has figured out how to add extra playable U-Boats yet (although it could replace an existing one if someone did decide to make it). The only reason that we have the VIIC/42 is because it came with the stock game. Also, if it did replace an existing U-Boat, it would have to be one of the main models (type VIIC and not VIIC/42 for example) and I don't know if its properties (number of torpedoes for example) could be changed.
well ... i think that the sh3 dev team could tell you guys if u asked them :)
I don't think they would, as it wouldn't be profitable for them and would require a detailed explanation of the source code. They probably wouldn't be too eager to give us any details as to that code, or an actual SDK either, as SHIV will be using that code and again, they would only gain consumer appreciation for it (and although that would be beneficial to them, it probably wouldn't make up for the development time they would lose while doing it). So I personally wouldn't get my hopes up for that.:-?

They were the largest and heaviest type VII boats built.
