Ok - i have now finished and uploaded my mod to filefront.

It contains the following and are applicable over a stock GWX with JSGME.

Draggable Nomograph
Tools icons switched so the ones with bearings are in the default slot
6 dials and Sim-feelings mod
Slideout TDC mod
Removal of the 3 dials and other redundant stuff from the console to only have the big dials. Only things visible are the officers icons and the Uboot detection level icon.
SP2 Res Fix (optional - is only used if you have installed microsoft's applications toolkit and run the bat.) !!!DELETE the d3d9.cfg from the mod's folder before you install if you dont run in hires mode!!

Commands in english with keypresses usualy on F9-F11 now moved to new keys. Deck Gun on G and Flack Gun on F. Allso enabled a command for weapons officer to plot a locked ship (shift S) and identify a ship (Shift I) plus a lot more. Basicaly its the RuB 1.4 keyfile incorporated into GWX.
Torpedolaufzeiten sheet in Map view along with the knots sheets etc. Shows torpedo running times vs. distance for 4 type of german torpedos. Altered original page 34 from the Torpedo Schusstafel (VIIB Potada) document.Hope you like it.

Its located on my filefront webspace http://hosted.filefront.com/Mav87th
hope thats the right link.....:oops:

Now bear with me - first time i have ziped up stuff for a mod for others.

Clearly, I'm applying this mod incorrectly. I've got GWX installed and running well. I've enabled Integrated Orders through JSGME along with some of the other GWX mod options. But when I enable Mav's mod, the game crashes to desktop before it finishes loading. I've deleted the d3d9.cfg file since I'm not running in hi res mode, as Mav has instructed.

Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated, thanks.

Great work bro...
Didn't tryed so far...
Apears that some people might have a problem instaling this Mod,
Maybe it would be good for you to include a Readme file with all the changes made,
credits, and mostly instal instructions bro...:up: :up:

Rudi would you be kind to try without the integrated orders mod?

I do not have that installed here - so i dont know if that is the problem for you. Does the game crash when loading to the User Interface or when trying to start loading a mission?

Thanks, Mav. The game won't even get me to the opening videos (the GMX howlin' wolf and the SH III intro video)...it crashes to the desktop along with the thoughtful offer of sending an error report:hmm:.

I uninstalled the game, deleted the SH3 folder on the root drive, defragged the hard drive, reinstalled the game, the 1.4b patch, the GMX mod, and the game loads just fine. I then used JSGME to load your mod ONLY...no other GMX mods were loaded (i.e. GMX intergrated orders)...the game crashes as described.

I also tried setting my desktop resolution to match that of the game...no go.

I want to use your mod, but so far, I can't run the game with it.

Hmm that sounds really weired.

If you do not use the hires option - try deleting all files in the folder - \MODS\Mav's GWX addon mod\

But leave the directory data there. That would eliminate the possibility of the hires mod interferring.

In the data directory there are not really any files that would hinder SHIII from running at all - i could understand if it would not let you get into a mission.

If you want me to zip up a version without the formentioned files then just mail me and ill put it up besides the mod on filefront.

Hey, Mav...your suggestion worked! I deleted those files but left the "data" directory and its files intact, loaded your mod, and the game loads and runs just fine, thanks.

Can I load the other GMX mods also?

Thanks for your help on this.

Thanks for the Mod Mav. I do have a couple of questions about it though. I am not sure what you are talking about when you say "!!DELETE the d3d9.cfg from the mod's folder before you install if you dont run in hires mode!!". I don't know if I am running in "Hires Mode" or not. I have all of the four selectable items in my video options within the game selected, and one of them refers to high quality textures I beleive. Is this what you are referring to?

I also don't know what you mean when you say "Tools icons switched so the ones with bearings are in the default slot". What exactly are you talking about here.

I am also a little unsure about what all the other features of your mod do. I am a little afraid to just try it because I am afraid I might mess something up and have to abandon my career and start everything over with a fresh install or something like that. Is it possible for you to put together some kind of readme file to explain how to install this mod and what all it does? Is it also possible to break out each segment of your mod package so we can pick and choose which things we want as compared to some things we may not want to change (like the key mapping changes).

Thanks for providing this for us. If all that I ask is a lot of work, please don't do it. I will just finish up my first career, and then give your mod a try. Thanks again.

I removed all the high res stuff, and left everything in the Data folder alone, except the Commands folder, and this mod works great. I like it better than the one in UBWA. Great work:up:

Rudi: GREAT:up: Now it's time for you to go hunt some Jerry's in floating can's:arrgh!:
The integrated ordes mod will definetly interfere with my mod as it allso mods the \data\Menu\menu_1024_768.ini file. I dont think the other mod's will interfere. If you REALLY want to use the integrated orders mod then you can carefully merge the menu_1024_768.ini files of my mod and the integrated orders mod and replace the menu_1024_768.ini file in the integrated orders mod directory with the new merged one (but thats pretty much work....)

Hocking: If you don't know if your running the hires mod - your not. It requires you to fiddle with windows through Microsofts Applications Compatability Kit and that would DEFINETLY ring a bell for you.

So do as i described - delete the 5 files d3d9.cfg, d3d9.dll, SH3.sdb, SP2 Res fix uninstall.bat and SP2 Res fix.bat before you install the mod via JSGME.

From that point on you can not mess anything up with regards to your carrer. The only thing changed from that point is graphics, tools and keysettings. You can download each of the mods seperately, but non of them are GWX ready as per se. Thats why i collected them into one easy installing mod. I did not do any of the wonderful work of making the mod's, but you will find threads with pictures and explanations via the top thread of the mod forum.

With regards to tool icons specificaly - the tool icons in the top of your map view...protractor, line, compas etc. etc. They have "stock GWX" the tool picture when you click it. What i did was exchange that with the really cool tools like bearings for the line and compass and a small compass for the course tool.

Anyway - try it - if you dont like it just uninstall it via JSGME - its a 30 min venture to install run SH3 test it, close SH3 and uninstall it again.

Ill try to upload some pictures to filefront describing the mod. Pictures says more the words with regards to graphical changes.

Tuddley: Good to hear that it worked for you the first time. Way to go:arrgh!: But again i can not take credit for the work of the mods them self - only for collecting them into a package.:yep:

Are you useing a "cracked" .exe file to run the game?
They have produced this issue for some people.

Done with what should be known as a beta - I did a real quick test and nothing seemed to crash anyway.:up:

Some icons don't give feedback(text of what it does) but they will change to what is intended.

Will be up on my filefront space as soon as its up again - seems filefront is down at the moment.

How, would you make this occur.

FLB Sale's 6 Dials Simfeeling Mod for NYGM 2.2

Instalation:

Use the Jone Soft Generic Mod Enabler.

By default the officers icons and textfield slideout function is deactivated, also clock bar slideout is turned off.

To activate them You must edit the menu_1024_768.cfg file.

To turn on officers icons and textfield slideout function find the block:

[G3F I33]
Name=Slideout Konsole; FLB Sale`s 6 Anzeigen
Type=1026;Menu group
ItemID=0x3F0C0000
ParentID=0x3F000000
Pos=0,141,670,140
Color=0xFFFFFFFF
;VertSlide=-130

and remove a semicolon before the ;VertSlide=-130 line. So it looks so: VertSlide=-130

To turn on clock bar slideout function find the block:

[G3F I375]
Name=Group feedback; FLB Sale`s 6 Anzeigen, Konsole & Uhrfeld
Type=1026;Menu group
ItemID=0x3F010000
ParentID=0x3F000000
Pos=0,145,733,145
Color=0xFFFFFFFF
;VertSlide=-144

and remove a semicolon before the ;VertSlide=-144 line. So it looks so: VertSlide=-144

..... so for G3F I375 you need to add a semicolon berfore the Vertslide=-144 line.

BTW .... Merry Christmas all :)

Church SUBSIM
12-21-06, 01:35 PM
this is not correct .... the change is but the location in the menu is diffrent. Looking now ....

[G3F I355]
Name=Group feedback; FLB Sale`s 6 Anzeigen, Konsole & Uhrfeld
Type=1026;Menu group
ItemID=0x3F010000
ParentID=0x3F000000
Pos=0,145,733,145
Color=0xFFFFFFFF
;VertSlide=-144

is for the clock bar but the text still slides up and down ... think it may be this line for text ...

[G3F I33]
Name=Slideout Konsole; FLB Sale`s 6 Anzeigen
Type=1026;Menu group
ItemID=0x3F0C0000
ParentID=0x3F000000
Pos=0,141,670,140
Color=0xFFFFFFFF
;VertSlide=-130

Hi this Mod didn't work for me even after deleting stated files .. still kept getting CTD's; in the end, I resorted to system restore and everything now is back to normal.
Basically, I would like the bottom interface to behave like the sidebar in my GWX version, when you point the mouse at the bottom, it brings up the bottom interface and when I withdraw the mouse, it scrolls out of sight so I have a full screen.
A Mod that I can install via JSGME and is compatible with GWX ?!

Damn - im really sorry to hear that Monsun. Thats was exactly what this mod did as well. Seems every one els has solved their problems, so you might want to go over the procedure one more time...

This is what i have installed via JSGME and in what order as well.

GWX-16km Atmosphere
GWX-Main movie - Das Boot
GWX-No Medals on Crew
Mav's GWX-addon Mod+update
FullVolnMod
Mav's GWX - Integrated Orders

that is ontop a clean 1.4b GWX install. I'm using the resolution fix as well, but deleting those mentioned files in my mod folder would leave that out of the modding and that should then not crash it.

My suspicion without knowing - leans towords the 16km atmosphere mod. my mod is based on that mod being installed, so that might have influence...??

Vinceor - the FullVoll mod is a mod that changes/adds the recognition manual pages with a color presentation of the volnurable zones of a specific ship.. aka where the engine room is, the fuel bunker, the ammo store etc. etc. - This worked like a charm in the stock game and NYGM. GWX has an improved damage system and will not work with these Zones. BUT....from testing with manual TDC i find my torpedos to be quite effective when shot at those zones anyway. So i thought what the "#% and changed that mod to be installable with GWX - mind it only adds VISUAL zones in the recognitions manual and will not alter any damage zones or whatnot.

Someone els pointed to a much much better pdf file including these zones as well.:up:

I have that printed out here now and does not use the mod anymore...how's that for wasted work..:damn:

Okay, got it running and this how.
Unzip the Mav's Mod folder then click new folder, delete all the stuff next to the Data folder [but not the Data one !].
Delete the Bkgr1.tga file and here is the path to it ..
Mav's Mod_data_Menu_Gui_Layout_Bkgr1.tga
Next, move the folder to Mods folder in Silent Hunter III
Next, click and open JSGME [two cogs icon] then transfer it over to activate it.
Incidentally, I also have 16km Atmosphere and Main Movie activated.
A great Mod especially if you like the larger Dials :up:

BUT .. the Officer icons at the bottom left of the screen are still there ! :damn: ..
next question is how to get them to scroll down with the rest so you end up with a full screen ? [Grrrr .. please do not tell me it's part of the Bkgr1.tga file !]

Silly me ! Re-read your description and the Officer icons are unaffected with this Mod .. OOPS.

Would now like Santa to come down the chimney, negotiate thru the stove and hand me the 'recipe' on how to banish those dam Officer icons.

I will make it all into one package after the hollidays.

Stopwatch hands noticed.
bad graphics stealth meter noticed.
That would be much appreciated Mav :up:

Hi, please could you include making the Officers icons disappear [scroll down with the rest] as well in the update so left with the complete full screen experience ?

Yes I second that :yep: :up:

Stealth Meter fixed - moved it down a little in placement.

After some testing i have found nothing wrong with the stopwatch hands - can not reproduce the error here - sorry.

I have been weighing pro/con of the slideout message area and officers icons. And come to the conclution, that im going to leave it as it is. I want the officers icons to be there in order to be able to make quick orders to any of them from anywhere in the boat. Im not going to leave up the messages, at they are only used frequently and very rarely in a time urgent situation. To make two or three different versions of this would imo. be confusing. Someone els should remod my mod collection and call it something els (no problems with me for doing that:arrgh!: )

I have now checked it out with the 23rd december update (remember to uninstall all mods in harbour before installing that!!) and so far no files are even in conflict in a compare - so it should be working exactly like with plain GWX.

Changed the DialsFDB a little - to fix the stealthmeter and likewise the Menuxxxx.ini file to place the same better.

On with some testing and ill be back later tonight with an updated uploaded ModCollection.

It's up on filefront.

Users of the first version should uninstall (both the mod and the update) and reinstall version 2.

It's tested to work based on GWX with 16km Atmosphere mod installed.

Containing the following:

4 Dials Slideout
TDC slideout mod
Transparanten konsollen mod
Draggable Nomograph
Torpedolaufzeiten chart
and
modified keyfile (english) that is more or less a copy of RuB 1.4's

Consider this a tribute to the authors of the above mods(yea i was one of them with the Torpedolaufzeiten chart so weeeee me too:arrgh!: )

And specialy for Mr. Munson...

Officers slide out when not active with this little modification in the menu_1024_768.ini file.

[G3F I89]
Name=Group officers
Type=1026;Menu group
ItemID=0x3F030000
ParentID=0x3F000000
Pos=0,131,281,130
Color=0xFFFFFFFF

You could deactivate the mod with JSGME and change the menuxxx.ini file in the Mods/data/menu directory and then reinstall the mod. You dont need to be in port to make this change.

Mav where do we get your version of integrated orders? or do I just apply the original integrated orders last with JSGME? I installed you dials earlier after applying integrated orders and it botched the command/order icons....the dials work fine just the integrated orders menu gets screwed up.

I'm running in JSGME:

GWX-Dec 23rd Corrections
GWX-Main Movie -Das Boot
Longer Repair Times v1.31 (GWX compatible)
Mav's GWX addon Mod
(if I place integrated order original here it changes your edited menu_1024_768.ini back) so I need your version of integrated orders)

Quick question Mav. I am not really sure what all you have changed in your most recent version of your mod. You called it "The Mav Mod Collection version2 (MMCv2)" and "The Integrated orders mod for MMCv2". I had your original versions installed, and they seem to be working fine. What are these two latest versions for? Should I uninstall your first version, and reinstall this latest version? What all got changed?

Thanks.

Mav, where can I find the Wiki on the SP2 Res Fix ? I encountered a problem of it corrupting an existing UBWA 2.0 career(only 4 patrols, no biggy). I deleted it and starting from scratch again, but I would like to look over the Wiki for future reference.

There were no big issue changes, but a few small fixes like the Stealth meter being placed wrong and some graphical brushup on the Torpedolaufzeiten tga. So nothing majora allthough it is nice that the steath meter works.

the other file in my file space is just the integrated orders mod with a new matching menu__id file so that the small fixes are valid with that mod installed as well.

Happy New Year for you all.

Tuddley i dont have the wikipedia address ready here, but ill post it as soon as i get home. Try searching for "SH3 Resfix SP2" on google - that should show something. Alternatively search on www.wikipedia.com (http://www.wikipedia.com) for "SH3 ResFix SP2"

Hi Mav, great mod - I've just installed it and like the slideouts etc. I'm trying to download the updated Integrated Orders mod from filefront, but their servers are very slow today and I keep getting SQL errors.

Anyway, quick question about the mod - when manually inputting data into the TDC you have a button that activates them for manual data entry located just to the right of the speed dial. With the slideout TDC controls in the periscope view is there an equivalent button to save switching to the TDC\Weapons screen each time?

Great work with the mod - I like the way it keeps the screen uncluttered.

EDIT - Hi - I've finally downloaded the new Integrated Orders mod for this, but when added all the Officer icons in the lower left of the screen vanish.

I can now only use the slideout TDC mod without them, it doesn't work with the GWX Integrated Orders mod either as it screws up the icons - anyone have a fix for this?

Cheers!

Hi Phoenix

I'm happy that you like it.

As for the switch from autoupdate to manual - yes you have to change to the F6 AttackMap page every time you need to flip that - its a thing that the original mod allso lacks and that i have no skills in fixing (i dont think it can be fixed actualy), anyway, sorry no dice there.

As for the missing officers icons.
Do you get them sliding out WITHOUT the integrated orders mod? They should slide out.

If they do then:

Have you tested if they slideout with the integrated officers mod installed as well? (im sure you have had the mouse down there plenty, but just for good old betatesting's sake)

Ill have a look at it anyway. Anyone els having problems with officers icons not sliding out with the integrated officers mod (my version of it) installed...?

And now to the news.....:rotfl:

I have changed periscope zoom back to the basics...mostly cus im usualy shooting at ranges so close that x10 sucks:arrgh!: BUT allso to accomodate a new "Paper sheet mod" that is going to be included in version 3.

Mast Head Height calculations for all the MIL ticks in periscope's and UZO. It consists of two sheets of paper you can pull down in the attack peri and the UZO. The sheets are a TGA shot of Sawdust's original PDF file http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=102988
So you quickly can count the "ticks" (leangth or hight) and compare to the sheet and thus get RANGE. Pictures of the mod is up at my FileFront space.

Mav, Will your mod work with the 8 Km atmosphere selection of GWX? Also, any idea when the v3 will be available?

Mav87th
01-15-07, 06:55 PM
Irish1958 - no it will not work with the 8km mod afaik. I hope your not "restricted" to be handicapped to that :oops:

And the V3 will be done in a couple of days. Fine tuning of the added sheets are done these days.

Im allso pondering if i should change Attack periscope back to x1,5/x6 and OpsPeri to x1/x4 and UZO on x7 and then up the Bino to x10 from x8. To me it feels better and more real to have the right zooms in the peri. And having x10 on the bino you can still see those ships at the good range.

In NYGM you use CTRL-T to switch between Auto and Manual. This is also featured in Ducimus's lite version of the slide out TDC. If you speak to Ducimus he might be able to tell you how its done.

Failing that, i'll have a look tonight and see if I can find the required bit of code.

Cheers, Hans.

Mav, Any chance of modifying the mod in next version to accommodate those of us with slower computers who have to use the 8 Km atmospheric variation, or offer a JSGME option to use the 8 Km?

Mav87th
01-16-07, 06:17 PM
Über Gruber and Geralt - thanks a lot - consider that changed. But i did meen the graphical interface of the switch. The shortcut is described in the TDC slideout mod read me BUT i missed that in the modcollection build. :damn:

Hi,

nice work MAV, but you should fix the stealthmeter to position: "Pos=450,0,141,145"
the icon will be not in the msg menu.
Maybe its ok when you dont use High Res SH3, but the position i wrote works fine at High Res.

Greetings

I spend a month with email going back and forth to their support (a week after that Ziff Davis/Original Founders takeover stuff) telling explicitly that the notice never came through, and my deletion queue was empty all the time. Then they respond I can select my qeued files from being deleted going to some link in the email they sent. :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn:

After they managed to understand the issue they said they are working on the issue. The next deletion que warning did come through to me. But the one after itr didn't. The biggest files were gone once again without notice.

Thank god for Neal's download feature. Oh wait, Thank Neal!!!! Or is he one and the same??? ;)

Your quite correct....it doesn't seem to occur since the sites recently changed ownership.

I check both my accounts regularly and often catch them just a matter of days away from file deletions.

I checked my original account after reading this thread and found everything had been deleted......fortunately my GWX2.0 onward account is still intact.
