View Full Version : Altering Torpedo Strength causes crashes?

I've recently taken to using TimeTraveller's excellent SH3 File Analyzer tool in order to change torpedo strength--for a change of pace.

Unfortunately, I've looked through various readmes, and I can't figure out precisely how to save changes. I've downloaded the rules.zip file and extracted that into the right directory for Final Analyzer, but it doesn't actually seem to change anything with the SH3/data/library directory.

I eventually broke down and modified a file from the rules.zip (torpedo_zon.rul), renamed it torpedo.zon, and copied it into the data/library directory (after backing up the original file). Of course, that resulted in a crash.

Now, I'm not using astronomically high values. Here an example:

Start:
SetHeading="T-4 [G7es] Falke"
Trigger(2)="AmmoDamageInfo"
"MinEF",>20,Single
"MaxEF",>20,Single
"MinRadius",>10,Single
"MaxRadius",>10,Single
End

Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to get the program to save these modifications to the torpedo.zon file. Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong? I'm sorry to have to ask so many questions, but I've given up trying to figure it out on my own.

I don't play with it much but.
If you have multipule installs, make sure your in the right one.
Load rules, Choose file,
(This is where you need to make sure your in the right SH3 install!)
Test rules, High Lite what you want to change in the right hand window,
Example : MinEF = 114
Left screen: numeric shows 114
Type in what you want
Hit Update Value.
Yer done!
And a back up file is created for you in case you don't like the changes!!
Hope this helps you.

Oh, and just renameing those rules files WILL NOT WORK!
Those files are NOT in the correct format for the Game engine to read!!!
SH3 is REAL picky about proper format.
