I assume they don't work with GWX, so I'll have to resort to starting over correct?

You can always give it a try
I assume you renamed your SH3 folder in my docs before installing GWX ?
If so just drop the career back into the new folder and give it a try

I've heard some people say they they've had success with their previous careers.

Technically speaking we should not be using the old careers in GWX. Now if it works without any bugs it's an added bonus;)

I am using mine. I started the GWX version from base though, so I don't know if that made it possible. I really wasn't keen on losing my 12 patrols. So far so good, two patrols under the GWX belt and no problems to report from using a GW 1.1 save game.

It worked fine for me. I was in the middle of patrol 19 (no sinkings as of yet), so I just restarted at base prior to 19 and all was well. It did take FOREVER to load though, approx. 2 minutes to load the mission, which I thought was excessive considering my system specs.

But otherwise, GWX ROCKS!! The graphics are so smooth, and I really love what was done with layout throughout the entire sim. Great job team.

I'm heading for sector AN73 (i think) and am going up through the channel in early 1942. So far, I've seen no aircraft and no ships, and I'm almost to Dover, and it is nearly midnight. Maybe I'll get lucky? ;)

I want to finish my sector patrol then head for Scapa Flow for some big targets..

Yes loading times generally get bigger the more ships\aircraft you add and the bigger the campaign files

... and thanks to Rubini and BBW... there's MORE THAN 1 MILLION lines of code in the campaign files alone... DOUBLE what comes with Stock SH3 and MORE COMPREHENSIVE than any other mod... bar none.

Thanks for the info. I'm familiar with large mods (Falcon 4 with SP4 and BMS2.0 is quite the beast) and know how a dynamic campaign can bog even the best machines down. I wasn't ripping on things, just commenting.

Nice work guys.. blows my mind everytime I set sail.

Yes. SOME existing careers will work.

Basically, if the port that you are docked at in your existing career is the same port that the same Flotilla uses at that same time in GWX, then your career should be OK.

For example, existing 1, 2, 11, 12 and 33 Flotilla careers should work with GWX (provided you were in base when installing GWX).

7 Flotilla careers should work up to Aug 1944, then will not work correctly or at all because the GWX allocated port has been changed. Likewise 10 Flotilla from Sep 1943.

29 Flotilla careers should be OK *after* Apr 1942.

Although, even if you are within the parameters outlined above, other "saved" factors may come into play. It is for these reasons it is recommended that players start a new career with GWX. If you do continue an existing career and it fails, pls remember this recommendation and refrain from posting "GWX crashed" questions, because the reason is obvious.

Got my 23 patrol career working fine here.

Based in nov. 1941 at St. Nazaire with 7th Flottila

So the saga of U-48 continues.....

Bernard was a bit pissed about getting dragged out of his mom's house for the 24th patroll. But we can't do without the entertainment:arrgh!:
