I only have ONE single gripe with GWX... it suffers from the same darkness issue as 1.1a :cry: With my Dell LCD monitor I cant see crap. And If I turn my gamma up then the day time looks like crap as it is all washed out...

I have a Dell Ultrasharp LCD widescreen monitor and night seems perfect to me.
I'd highly recommend their ultrasharp monitors to anyone.

I have a dell 2001FP .... they didnt have the Ultrasharp series yet when I bought this one :down:

The dark is really irratating.... in any game. I literally have to turn the lights out in my puter room...and even then I cant see. If I could ALT-Tab out of the game I would just jack the gamma up at night... but I dont think you can ALT-Tab in SH3. I will have to try that.

Yes i did make it a fraction brighter with photoshop cs . I have a crt and have the contrast on full and its perfect at night with a darkened room .

AFAIK Dell don't make moniters anyway. They just stick their own label on them and sell them.

I could'nt see sh1te when i had my CRT not to long ago, i had to turn the brightness way up and sit in a dark room. However i now a 19" Phillips LCD monitor and wow the difference is outstanding, i can see at night now even when's it's daylight in RL, without touching the brightness settings :up:

This is how the nights looks for me too.
I have a Leadtek Nvidia card and if i remember correct there is difference if you use Nvidia or Gforce card.
I had a Gforce card before and all my games was darn dark.
But there is also some options whitin the cards settings as well that you can try to change. So dont just try to adjust your monitor but try also in the settings for your card.

Yeah, those turrets are obviously the result of some long-distance F12 recon. Entities such as boats, planes, wreckage, cities and harbours are drawn earlier than terrain and features like trees. I've seen that myself, plenty of times.

And i was tired to look at the same cargo crates on the ships so i did a small adjustment to the textures for the craters.
I was quite amazed how a small thing like this could increase the "atmospher".
And the cool part is that a ship now can have 2 different type of crates onboard at same time.

I dunno if iam gona upload and share it cuz it was just a simple texture modification but it works well in GWX.
If people want i can upload it.

Hope you find same convoy as i did in december 1939. They had more escorts in it than it was merhcants.

Somehow i managed to survive that battle but whit hull damage of 38%.

But in an realistic reflection i doubt it could be so many escorts ship in a convoy so early in the war. But it was fun :)

Hehe yeah it was a "normal" convoy just behind the island where scapa flow is.

It had about 12-14 merchants and 10-12 or so escorts. Armed trawlers. Hunter 1, Admirality destroyer and flowers.

I Finally started a career
After having some fun with a couple of Pyros

I was returning to the strait north of oarkney islands and I've picked up a warship at long distance, I was about to turn about but I decided to stay a couple more minutes to get a better idea of it's course, when about 6 or 7 more ship sound where picked up by my operator (I must remember to give him a promotion), so I surfaced, flank speed (forget the calculations, they where coming too fast and I'd no time), and when I think I was more or less in position 16 mts deep and 2 knots speed...
And they showed up

I shoot a 4 trops fan at long range, three duds..., but the last hit on the engines zone, while I was diving and heading away to avoid escorts, after an hour it was dead in the water, but no sinking, the rest of the TF had gone but one DD remains in the zone, I turn back and shoot another torp

I didn't gave them the chance of detecting me :D , I don't deal with escorts, I usually rush ahead of the target, dive at about 20 mts set course straight at them to give a low profile, set speed to 1/2 knots, silent running, and when they pass me I change heading to be at 90º, go to pd, fire my torps, then dive to 60 or more and get the hell out of there, once I see they didn't detect me, If I can safelly make another run I make it else... call me a chicken :lol: .

I didn't gave them the chance of detecting me :D , I don't deal with escorts, I usually rush ahead of the target, dive at about 20 mts set course straight at them to give a low profile, set speed to 1/2 knots, silent running, and when they pass me I change heading to be at 90º, go to pd, fire my torps, then dive to 60 or more and get the hell out of there, once I see they didn't detect me, If I can safelly make another run I make it else... call me a chicken :lol: .

If so, try running with Adaptive Anti-Aliasing enabled (quality-setting)....will make the wires and fences on your boat look much better.:up:
Same for that bridge in your screenies (Kiel-kanal?)...it will look much better.

Nvidia NS6600 256mb here. AA fuzzes out too many details for me. I'd rather tolerate the jaggies than deal with the blur. :-?

If you havent done it: If you increase your screen resolution and then enable AA, that solves a lot of the "fuzziness" you get when you crank up AA at the default SH3 resolution. I'm running at 1600x1200 and got AA/AF both at 16x (Geforce). Everything seems to be lovingly sharp, and smooth at the same time. Even if you don't have a monitor that goes at 1600x1200, the upgrade to 1280x1024 makes a diff too, I'm sure.:up:

I'd have gotten some better screenshots but ive started to play with the free camera OFF. Its acutally more fun to me that way. No credit for the sinking, but it was damn fun. No damage to the uboat either. Not a scratch. Ordinally i woudlnt do something like that, but in a steel vs wood scenario, i figured id win. Took me a few attempts, rammed him about 2 or 3 times before he finally went under.

Recently ive decieded to give up IX uboats and Caribean romp's (Where ive spent a good portion of my time in SH3 for the last year, time to do something new :roll: ), and stepped down into a type 7 and the med. Im gonna make that my new playground. I just dont have the time or patience anymore for super long range, 80 to 120 days at sea, carribean patrols. I think thats one reason im so burnt out on this game. yet i still play. :roll:


Anyway, first patrol, 10/41. Sound contact. Turns out to be a small convoy. And im in the PERFECT intercept position. So i work my way in. After several perisocope observations, heres what im seeing.

ohh, Ive been there. I saw my first ever capital ship at sea a few weeks ago. It was doing 25knts with many destroyers around it.

I met one in the Black Sea and stuck with it until it'd almost reached port, for protection's sake. But yes, it has to be annoying to set up this perfect attack only to see a German or Italian or other Axis flag atop the vessel.

Re the sail boat: I love how the watchman looks off to starboard as if he can't see the bloody thing. I can picture him five minutes later going "Kaleun to Brücke! There's wreckage all over our front deck! ...No, no idea where it came from, Herr Kaleun!"
