Thought I'd share a recent memory with you all :yep: You'll meet this beautiful lady in her parlour (guarding Port Said)
No cigar for guessing her name

The Guys in fire control (At the top of the first mast? right?) must have a poor time if the wind is blowing in the same direction the ship is moveing.
(SMOKE!)
"Ahhhh...i can hear her....." the captain said in a low voice.
"She's crying for my torpedos in her belly..."
Excellent shot, mate!! Lookin' forward to this, oh yeah!!

Nice boat, can't wait to meet her ;)
But ... and I don't want to sound ungrateful or anything, the title said 'GWX Early Shots' implicating that there were going to be more than one great screen shot ... :hmm:
So where are they? Come on now, don't keep us hanging in here longer than needed, hand them over! :arrgh!:

Truth be told, when I first read the first part of your post (before the picture loaded) I thought wow, they modeled the statue of liberty in the game!!!
But nevertheless, that's a nice looking ship.

Not in person no, but when I read "beautiful lady" (which the Statue of Lady has been called) and then "in her parlour" (you could call Liberty's parlour, the New York Harbor), I came to that conclusion.
And since I know the GWX team has modeled other landmarks into the game, I logically came to the conclusion, that this may be about the same sort of thing.
Obviously after seeing the picture though, I realized I was wrong.
That is one sexy hunk of steel right there. GAH! I am just itching to get my grubby mitts on GWX! :ping:

To remove any doubt, the Statue of Liberty was present in SH3 long before we started modding it.
I wish I had a screenshot handy.

Just one question. Can I still play on 29% realism with GWX? Im still learning the game, and all you people are saying that you want more realism.
Can I still get the updated graphics etc but still have 29% realism?
The realism settings are the same mate
You get the Updated graphics what ever realism settings you use

This wasn't a GW problem (per se, from stock really).
However, during testing, aircraft were found to attack regulary at 128 > 256 TC and even some at higher levels.
However, if you go cruising around at 1024 TC or higher you will greatly reduce the chance of an aircraft attack as the game 'warps' aircraft from waypoint to waypoint so no chance of them actually 'seeing' you.

The realism settings are almost identical with the original GW, so you can adjust them in any way you like. You can get the whole package even at 0% realism but obviously you will be missing some of the AI capabilities (like how deadly the DDs are for example)

That´s what the Long Range Gunnery is all about. Try to surface in front of an unescorted pair of seemingly "harmless" small merchants / steamers after 1940, on a clear day. You will be forced to dive...unless you have a death wish.
Or see shells splashing all over you from a large warship you can barely see! But, since the warship has superior equipment, it certainly see you and aim at you.

yeah, same for me. want to finish my carrer in easy settings before updating to anything else. a bit boring though : patrol grid this, patrol grid that... not very exciting. i'm end of 1940 (will nail king george v on my next patrol :D :D ), so still happy times. get killed once in a while by destroters, though.
anyway, good news that GWX does not change the realism :D though i guess it will make life harder, right??

Well, this little taste is impressive, most impressive
But, having Ole George is more than I could have asked for.
Should be a nice Indian Ocean target where she spent most of the war guarding convoys from Aux cruisers.
That is so cool.
To go this far in detail only boggles the imagination as to what else this ultimate version of SHIII will take us.
Joining a long list of grateful Kaleuns in advance and thanking the whole GWX team for what may be the best war sim version done to date in any format!
Just super!

Well, "uncle George" (or RHN Georgios Averof - Pisa Class Armoured Cruiser, built in 1911) *is* actually escorting the Aden - Bombay convoys in GWX, but it is quite difficult to get there in 1942 (before the Penang Base and before an IXD/2 is available).
It would need a very determined Kaleun with an IXB from Lorient to pass through Gibraltar and Suez to get to the Arabian Sea. I think, I'll do it :rotfl:
Now, If you are really quick on your firs mission from Salamis you might catch a small TF from Alexandria to Port Said, with the Averof leading, while towing **********...oh, no I'm not going to ruin the surprises :rotfl:
