Hi all...

Do somebody have the list sub pen coordinates and headings to locate the submarine at sub pens into UWAC V1.92 when start up a campaign mission ?

I need to test the subpens protection against enemy air raids on port.

Thanks in advance... :up::up:

Do you mean this?

there are some Sub protection not far away, like in Brest
St-Nazaire, Bordeaux, Lorient, Bergen. So after a little
seeking and experiencing i've founded how to get my mission
starting under a nice Casemate protection.
To do that you have to modify the German Naval Base
in the Campaign_LND.mis. The part to modify are
the Long, Lat and sometimes Heading values.
So here are the modification to do
[Unit 34]
Name=La Spezia
Class=NavalBase
Type=407
...
Long=1182429.000000
Lat=5292077.000000
Heading=203.500000
[Unit 36]
Name=Bordeaux
Class=NavalBase
Type=407
...
Long=-103547.000000
Lat=5447197.000000
Heading=0.000000
[Unit 38]
Name=St. Nazaire
Class=NavalBase
Type=407
...
Long=-286409.000000
Lat=5673433.000000
Heading=180.000000
[Unit 39]
Name=Lorient
Class=NavalBase
Type=407
...
Long=-398895.000000
Lat=5728989.000000
Heading=180.000000 (edit: corrected the value from 135 to 180)
[Unit 40]
Name=Brest
Class=NavalBase
Type=407
....
Long=-534395.000000
Lat=5805818.000000
Heading=180.000000
[Unit 41]
Name=Bergen
Class=NavalBase
Type=407
...
Long=637589.000000
Lat=7249043.000000
Heading=270.000000

There, i've tried those position with an IXD2 (as it is
the longest U-Boat) and worked them until
the boat was centered and not touching anything around.

Greetings from Gremany:sunny:
Yes... A6 Intruder, but sadly your new coordinates seems to be for another MegaMod... i try the lorient coordinates i my present campaign and no way, i do not start inside the submarine "kindergarden" (subpen).

My sub appears into the pier terrace :dead: .... look the thumbnaul above.

I need the locations for UWAC V1.92... i have not too much experience opening the campaign files...

Any way, lot of thanks for help.... :up::up::up:

Isn't it possible to get coordinates from a mission editor?

Redwine, check Pm.

Isn't it possible to get coordinates from a mission editor?

That is what I found-- but even easier maybe---just drag and move the "lorient naval base" in the LND layer in editor to a posistion inside a pen and set correct heading. then just save as LND layer and the sub should start where the naval base was placed.

Yes, to start where you want to start, you must:

a) Drag the base in the mission editor to where you want it to be, that is, EXACTLY where you want to start (make sure you drag the German placeholder if the base changed hands during the war)*

b) Grab the new lat/long coords and plug them into Flotilla.cfg at the appropriate place(s). The coords in Flotilla.cfg and the LND file MUST BE EXACTLY the same. Otherwise, you will most likely end up at 0' lat 0' long (ie just off the West African coast).

c) If you have an existing career, you will also need to update your Careers_0.cfg file for the next patrol.

*You can edit the LND mis file direct, but I think you'll find this the much easier way.

I opened the .LND with the mission editor, but i can found the way to see even my sub :-?, i really hate this mision editor, how much better is in example Flanker Mission Editor !!!

Thanks BigBoy... can you explain that ?

Are you saying the file wich determine the sub position and heading is the Flotilla.cfg ?

I was able to found... in example, Lorient coordinates into .LND files and into the Flotilla.cfg file.

Wich one is the file wich give the position to the sub ?

Many thanks for help.... :up::up:

redwine,
the naval base (it's position-"lat,long" & heading) in the LNd layer is the starting point of your sub as long as it matches the flottilla cfg

Redwine
11-30-06, 07:59 PM
Well... tested and no way, changing the coordinates for .LND and Flotilla.cfg or only into .LND i appears at same place, into the pier terrace, far from the subpens, those values are not for the UWAC Lorient position.

The way to move the base is not an option, because all thing will remain in wrong position, like other ships and AAA places.

JScones
11-30-06, 08:48 PM
Redwine, I think you may be confused between port location and base location. They are different.

Your safest bet is to use the Mission Editor yourself and move things around.

To help you, let's look at some piccys of the ME. For this example, we want to move you three pens to the left at St Nazaire.

Figure 1 - current starting location.
http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/tmp/Image1.jpg

Figure 2 - click on German base and move where you want to start.
http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/tmp/Image2.jpg

Note the Lat/Long (m) figures in the status bar and apply to all files as previously mentioned. IMPORTANT: The lat/long coords are linked to your mouse, not the selected unit. Therefore I would recommend that you save the LND file after making your change and then open the file in notepad, and copy the coords that were saved. Again, all it takes is one digit difference to break the whole thing.

Also, if you are fussy, expect some trial and error as you get the boat positioned exactly where you want it.

JScones
11-30-06, 09:23 PM
The figures you want are the [m] figures.

But I would recommend that once you move the "base", SAVE the Campaign_LND.mis file.

THEN open it in notepad (or any text editor).

Do a search for "Nazaire" (or whatever base you changed), remembering that there may be numerous entries reflecting the changing of the base throughout the years.

When you find the entry that has Origin=German, look for the Long, Lat and Heading entries in the same block. They will contain the figures you are after. Use them everywhere else.

That's good to know. Thank you Jscones. I always used the last set of #'s (deg) when placing ports and lighthouses. just assumed same would true for naval base:oops: .

I'm going to stop giving advice on this subject and let the ones in the know handle it before I have people royally screwing up their files:lol:

Well... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v655/rrclimber/smilies/bananaWrench.gif i was able to do it ...

It is so hard to fit the sub inside the subpen, i use Type IX and it is so long, i cant put the stern so near the wall, and then my bow is visible from outside, and the B-24 detect me and attack me in the correct way, attempting to introduce the bomb across the subpen entry gate.

http://img159.imageshack.us/img159/8071/outsidehg4.th.jpg (http://img159.imageshack.us/my.php?image=outsidehg4.jpg)

http://img124.imageshack.us/img124/8052/bombbc5.th.jpg (http://img124.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bombbc5.jpg)

I need to put the sub 2 or 3 meters back... because my bow is too visible from outside, but i can reach it, a smal movement with the mouse and the stern goes into the wall.

http://img83.imageshack.us/img83/724/pen1ta8.th.jpg (http://img83.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pen1ta8.jpg)

http://img124.imageshack.us/img124/9574/pen2ei9.th.jpg (http://img124.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pen2ei9.jpg)

This is the damage i receive in that attack, protected by the subpen....

http://img384.imageshack.us/img384/5048/damagevl7.th.jpg (http://img384.imageshack.us/my.php?image=damagevl7.jpg)

The attack was coduced by 3 groups of B-24 Liberators, one of 7 planes, the second of 5 planes and the third of 7 planes. 7 + 5 + 7 = 19 :doh:

19.... :doh: B-24 attacking port.... http://www.createphpbb.com/phpbb/images/smiles/uhohhide.gif imagine when i was without the pen protection. :huh::dead:

I am happy now... http://www.eshock.es/forum/style_emoticons/default/diablotin.gif i can survive, very damaged but survive a masive air raid.

Those B-24 are too inteligent, they attempt to put the bomb across the subpen entry gate. How i hate them, they always catch me at port.... http://www.mocoforo.com/foro/style_emoticons/default/diablo.gif

Really ? Does they had doors ? I never seen a picture with doors colsed, i was thinking they was "open entry" style.

I will serach on the web to see that :up:

And... yes i am very happy now :D, i suvive a masive air radid without use my flak gunners rasonably protected by the subpen. :up:

Plus i can dive to periscope depth at subpen to stay hidden.

Now i will wait into the subpen at mission start up, up to the first air raid pass, they happens every few minutes when at port, and tehn when it finished i will run out of port, more real in my opinion... :up:
