How do you change the campaign patrol time from the standard (patrol for 24 hours).

I'm not sure if you can. The reason it says that is because originally they were going to have a 'scripted' campaign, with each patrol having different orders. When we begged and pleaded for and demanded a dynamic campaign, the patrol orders section was still there. It says 24 hours so you don't get orders to stay there forever.

Well then does anyone know how to change it so that you patrol say , AN for 24 hours instead of a specific grid in AN .

Yes :rotfl:

Pretty sure the file you want is Flotilla.cfg in C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\Cfg

trying to activate patrol grids (the few) in the Pacific and south Atlantic. it seems everytime I tried to activate them all that came up was patrol grid = 0. I even ran into problems around Europe. I would change a few grid numbers and suddenly the game would get stuck on just one or come up with 0. I finally gave up on them. Those things are controlled by some sort of Twilight Zone logic.

Pretty sure it has to be 4 digit for the game to read it
AN24 or NULL

There may be another file
Jaeson Jones probably has the answer as he knows these files inside out but he is a bit busy at mo IIRC
Will mention it too him

SH3 will read grids from Flotilla.cfg having any combination of letters and numbers up to eight characters. Any text beyond will be truncated. Zeroes are ignored.

But this is perhaps moot - if you change the grid to one that does not exist in the game, you will not get any renown or recognition. To give you an example of how literal SH3 is, setting something like grid "AN44 " will fail because of the trailing space, even though the grid itself is valid.
