Hello,

I am pretty new on SH3, I wanted to develop a list of the most dangerous ships on GW. I wonder if you could help me to make a list with some of the worst ones shown in the recon book.

Tx a lot

By far I'd say a King George Battleship is the worst to have to deal with IF you're in a bad position. Nelson's are also bad when you are forced to surface by severe flooding. In contrast, King George Battlships are pretty easy to sink if you aim behind the bridge. It took me 2 that slammed in right under the bridge to sink it. The funny fact was that I once fired 1 into a George's stern and it blew up and sank in a matter of seconds.

Those battleships are deadly, thats true!! I think tha worst one have to be the destroyers... (no, im not kidding). If you consider those that are dangerous to you as a player, i would nominate the destroyers. I have been killed more times by them than by battleships. General talking, i agree with my mate Stealth Hunter: The King George & the Nelson would give you a ticket to heaven by shelling the cr@p out of you if you surface to close to them....

Any enemy vessel catching you on the surface is dangerous...probably the least worrying would be the Elco, but anything else with a deck gun (and I include merchants) can do you serious harm. :yep:

As said earlier by Seth...the destroyer (normally the fastest enemy surface vessel-in mid ocean) is probably the one to be most wary of because when in times of danger a submarine uses the oceans depths for sanctuary/safety therefore nullifying the surface vessels deck guns..... a destroyer (and most other escorts) still have a secondary weapon to destroy you with...namely deptharges...hedgehogs etc. :yep:

RESPECT THEM ALL!! :yep:

The most dangerous are the River, Evarts and Buckley Class. Be ware of them

Stay away from Trawlers, too. Those depth charges can make short work of a sub trying to hide. If anything, sink the heaviest and most dangerous escorts first and ignore the smaller ones that have only mg's and cannons. Then, take out the merchants. That's my tactic. BTW, I finally got that Nelson I wanted.

Anything with an ELITE crew and DC's is a pain in the stern tube!

There Merchants are armed earlier than the rest, so watch out when attack a convoy with a Greek ship in it!

I believe River destroyer escort, Somers, and Fletcher destroyer are most deadly against submarines after 1943. They usually smell where I am from miles out and no matter how deep I am, as I have to be really lucky if one doesn't pick me up on their sonar. Only time I can deal with them in convoy if there storm, high waves, or my sub to be really close to the land on coast.

Fishing boats are the most dangerous, their stench can knock out your crew. Avoid surface attacks :o

Convoy made up of about 5 escort carriers, 5 battleships, 20 destroyers, and a greek merchant ship.

I've always found that Flower Corvets, can be and often are, the most dangerous. I don't know if it's a SH3 quirk but they can always pin point you and they're buggers to shake off.

I remember when I first took to SH3 and joined the UBI forum(:shifty:) there was so many players dying due to Flower Corvets that I think they all deliberately went after them.

IIRC the thread was called 'Flowers for Crystine'.

V&W, River, Black Swan. They are common in groups of 2 or above and they cannot be destroyed in a gun duel. They are too strong and they have got too much HPs. A fish is necessary

I could destroy a Flower ,in case of emergency and my willing to sacrifice your seamens and HP to it with a 8.8 cm naval gun

Yes, I agree that battleships are large threat, but they cannot do anything (except ramming you and destroying your desk) after you have got to periscope depth

For other, such as Fletcher or Tribal, they are uncommon and they can be neutralized by a fish also

Anyway, never attempt to sneak into groups of destroyers consisting more than 3 DDs. They can work very well, with one dropping DCs while others tracking your position!!!

Anything Corvette and above is dangerous including the mercs when they are armed if you are surfaced
Below water I find the Destroyers are the most dangerous then Frigates then Corvettes
The patrol boats arent that deadly but they have a tendancy to call in help - usually in the shape of destroyers

My last death was due mainly to a Flower corvette after attacking a convoy near Gibraltar and trailing a wounded cargo ship. After running out of depth charges, it continued making runs at me. I was going silent slow and around 150m deep up and down, but it was somehow always pinging me again (weather was superb and calm, which probably didn't help me.) After 1 hour of the game, the trailing escort from the convoy which was by that time far away, left the convoy to join the Flower. As soon as they were both on spot, the Flower would remain stopped or at slow speed using the Asdic while the destroyer was making precise attack runs. It lasted another 45 mns or so, and I guess thru loss of concentration, I turned on the wrong side during one of the runs and got hit on the bow (bow torpedo room damaged) I didn't have time to order going up to a safer depth that the lights in the command room started blinking, water to leak in and black screen. Back to Sept 39 once more...
