NYGM 2.2 Battery Q

Hello!

Just noticed, with AFAK 580 batteries it requires about six hours to get batteries to be recharged from 50 % to full. From 10 % to 50 % it's quite fast and ok. Just wondering if 6 hours is a little bit too much? Boat belongs to II-class.

In principle, though, the figures sound about right. Electric current does not flow from a U-boat battery like water from a jug. The more you take out, the harder it is to extract more. If you try to run at high speed underwater, you should find that the U-boat speed slowly drops away even though some current remains in the battery. Equally, when recharging, the final top-up of the battery takes longer than the initial recharge.

In fact there were two ways of recharging U-boat batteries. One was a slow trickle charge at base, which took a long time but gave full capacity. The other was the fast charge required by a U-boat on operations, which gave a lesser current capacity. Observer did an outstanding job in modelling the latter.

Yes, that's right. I was just wondering this approx. 6 hours fm 50 to 100 %. I'm not sure, but I think that's quite much. I have heard about 4 - 8 hours from empty to full and now it seems that in NYGM it's about 8 hours... Well, I have tried to find reliable info about the subject from uboat.net, haven't been lucky yet.
And yes, you are right: NYGM still provides leading-edge realism. :up:
