Firstly my apologies if this has been covered before, I've done a quick search but nothing relevant came up.

OK, so I've just installed NYGM (2.2) for the first time and I've read both manuals and it says that to get the required 100% difficulty you need to select certain listed realism settings. However, when I do this the display still only says the difficulty is about 54% (can't remember the exact number). Does this mean that NYGM has not installed correctly or is it a feature of the way the program works and I will be getting the full 100% regardless of what the display says?

Hmmmm . . . that sounds odd. Mine definitely shows 100% when set right.

It should show 100%.

Either you've ticked the wrong realism options, or you have a defective installation of NYGM 2.2. It ought to be installed over a clean installation of basic SH3 and patch 1.4b. (Unless you are using the 2.2 upgrade, in which case it ought to be installed over SH3/1.4b/NYGM 2.0.)

We've noticed that virtually all complaints about problems with NYGM are due to the presence of other mods, either before or after NYGM is installed. The NYGM team can hardly be held responsible for that!

NYGM Tonnage War Mod - more than a mod; it's an experience! (http://www.wolvesatwar.org/nygm/)

Well I've done a completely fresh install, freshly patched to 1.4 and used NYGM full version as the only mod and I still have to tick all of the boxes before it will tell me I'm at 100% realism  I can't see what else to try, so I guess I'll have to go without.

OK, third time lucky - it now appears to be working as it should. Just don't ask what I did differently this time.

Good hunting, it's a great mod, but as said above enemy warships are way more dangerous than in original game if you played it before. Stay undetected (don't get too close, they have sharp eyes, and always try to expose minimum profile) and if not, go deep, run slow (1knt) and stay silent, hope for bad weather. You can also pray, but that doesn't seem to work so good for me...;)
One thing to remember also, there is no "hovering" anymore, so at 0 Knt you sink slowly.
Take the time for a good read of the well done doc, important infos in there, specially on the ship damage model, very different and important for targeting...
