I'm running GW1.1a andhave not added any new mods lately, I never ran into the problem before yesterday. During a career I saved the game and exited SH3 , when I reload the game, my sub sinks to the bottom as soon as the load screen is done and will not respond to any commands. The career ends when I hit crush depth and says I died due to a collision. There were no ships or land in sight when I saved. I restarted the mission from the beginning and played fine for a while. When I saved again this afternoon the same problem occurred when I loaded the last saved game.
Anyone else ever run into this? I'm guessing that somehow my save game file is being corrupted, it's frustrating to lose all the time I put into the game because of this.
Any ideas?
Tia.

yep...try using the save and exit patrol only...not the save game...worked for me
others suggest only saving whilst on the surface with clear seas eg as u said no ships around...

Thanks. I usually do use save and exit but I'm not sure if I did the last times this happened.

Yes its a bug that can pop up from time to time
Some never get it
Always try to save on the surface and not to close to ports/convoys and the like
I know this is not always possible
If I am faced with making a save in those conditions I usually make a save and then do a save and exit
If the last fails at least I stand a chance of the previous one working

Just a side note. I once saved and typed CON (which was short for convoy) then continued then saved and exited with CON again . NEVER TYPE THIS IN . Ended up with some programming language or something in the place of the save game .

Thanks. I remember having the problem way back when I first bought SH3 but it hasn't popped up since. I forgot what the "solution" was. You reminded me, I saved and exited the game, continued for 5 game minutes and saved and exited again.
