View Full Version : Why I love GW!

Since everyone is posting all these posts about GW 1.1a, I decided to make a praise thread after a wonderful encounter last night.

So here I was, sailing up the english channel, mid 43, dodging mines and getting ready to sink some serious unprotected shipping. I even turned on my radar to draw in some prey.

Lo and behold, along comes a destroyer. I get my torpedo ready and let it fly around 1000m, he zigzags and I miss (great realism! I love the zigzag thing!) and I crash dived. He pulls in over me and starts blasting me with depth charges. I take some damage and have to go unsilent to plug some leaks , which just makes him even more determined. I wasnt doing too well...

AND THEN IT HAPPENED

I was cheating wildly by using f12 to see where my sub was and zigzagging away from his tail where the DC racks are and out of nowhere, I hear the buuuuuzz of aircraft. Oh no, I think....he brought up support.

Then I see him start firing.....wait....it can be!

A huge flight of stukas had shown up to open a can of whoopass on him!

The LUFTWAFFE showed up to save my butt! They left the DD looking like swiss cheese and I popped a TP into him and got the kill!

The double cool part was that I have never seen an allied flight outside of a harbor until this moment!

Thank you GW!

Just wait! If you love GW, you'll sure to love GWX. Soon. :shifty: Or that's what I've read.

Enjoy you many future happy hours with SH3!

You're a lucky man. I've heard that support is EXTREMLY rare and when they do come, they like to miss  But any help is good help!

I might just have GWX sooner than later. Oh and apparently I'm allowed to post positive reflections. So I'll be back with details... soon.

God I love being able to say that!:|\\

I plan on doing an entire new campaign in GWX in the nonstandard theatres. First, I'll hunt some russians and then head for the med when that becomes available.

Either that or get myself a type 9 boat and do some long range patrols and pop some indians or south americans.
