First let me say i bought this before i was aware of the great contriversery here at SubSim. Please No rants about how its a ripoff etc. thats water under the bridge. If you can answer my ? please do. Other than that dont bother flaming me or Seawolves, thank you.
The manual states that camo for the VII and XI boats are now default. They give a way to turn this off. I started a career in 1939 in VIIB and no camo, Im now in July 1940 in a VIIC and no Camo.
I just found out about the first patch and dl loaded it and added it. In the update notes there it states you have to Excute the camo_VII and XI bat batch file in options directory of SH3 file. I found them and tried to open them, all that happens is you get a quick flash and view of a small black menu with white letters.
Can anyone tell me how to excute them to activate the camo ? Thanks for your help. :arrgh!:

yeah, but, it was funny....

I recommend using jsgme to swap your uboat skins. Its faster, easier, and you know what is happenening to your files. I'm not sure what exact skins they are using but, most likely you will find them on the forums under someone elses name...like the person that originally made the skin.....

But, if they gave you batch files....they are probably swapping the textures for you. Usually when someone asks you to use a batch file.... it is a script that executes (the little black dos window) that replaces the files for you (its all automatic once you double click on the .bat). So, if you ran the batch it should be enabled already. So, I would check in game again to see if the textures were replaced with camo. The window you saw was the textures being replaced by the batch program.....the camo_VII.bat should replace the VII skin and the camo_XI.bat should replace the XI skin to cammo....

But, that is the problem with batch programs you never know exactly what they are doing or if they did what they were supposed to.....and is why I suggest sticking with jsgme for your texture replacements....

1st off you need to get patch 1.4b. That is the last patch and makes SHIII fully playable. It includes the previous patches, so it's all you need. You can get it there... http://patches.ubi.com/silent_hunter_3/. US 1.4b is tha last one at the bottom of the page.

As for camo being turned on, I've never heard of that...maybe someone else knows more about it.

He is talking about the patch he applied for http://www.gmxmedia.net/seawolves/ not for sh3 vanilla. Ubisoft never added camo textures or batch programs with their patches.

yes its the Seawolves patch that i mentioned. I also patced 1.4 to SHIII before adding Seawolves per the instructions. Thanks for the tips.

Ill ignore Capt. USA, you wont drag me into a flame war.

Anyway i still cant get camo to work by dbl clicking on the files.
I just tried the periscope option mod in the same area and it worked fine.

Im wondering if they dont have camo early in the war. Im in early 1941 now.

Why dont you ask the company you purchased the software from?

I mean dont they offer tech support?

I plan to do that at this stage. I figured there might be other people with this problem and this might be a good place to bring it up. Thanks for the suggestion.

OMG!!!!

Is this even possible? Someone actually BOUGHT at X1 Software?

Or did I misunderstood the whole thing?

Yes, he did, and he explained why. He also asked us not to make replies like that. Read it again.

Lets give him some good replys, mates. Lets not sink down to X1's level. Lets show that we care about our shipmates, and are willing to help them.

I did. I told him to ask the people who put out the expansion.

How are we suppose to know how to fix something we didnt work on?

:rotfl:

Yeah, i know, and i see the irony.. But how can you expect X1 to give tech support...they cant even make their own mods...... :rotfl::rotfl:

I can understand the view about "the subsim community have to solve the problems caused by X1" issue.... But hey, that proves that the best guys are on subsim, no doubt..

Ragnar39: check the mods thread. There you will learn about skins..

Well, also understand that the original autor of this skins isnt expecting to help someone who support X1 by purchasing this product , who used his skin without any authority given.
I would call up X1 and ask how to activate this skin. if they dont know. ask ur money back :rotfl:

I'm surprised Wulfman hasn't responded to this thread yet. #1 X1 Spokesman.
