Recently I installed and used SH3Gen to add some intel information to my patrols.
In my sixth patrol I have the following text as results of the SH3Gen:
Patrol 6
U-45, 2nd Flotilla
Left at: January 15, 1940, 19:09
From: Wilhelmshaven
Mission Orders: Patrol grid CF32

---Mission---

Primary Patrol Area: Central Atlantic

Sail secretely into Vigo and make contact with the 'Pinguin' to take over
documents. Be extremely careful - your presence in Vigo must not be
detected by the local authorities!

---Standing Operational Orders for all U-Boats--- How am I suposed to mak contact with a ship? Do I have to dock in the same port?
Do I have to get close to it?
Any hints?

I have no idea what your orders are; I can't read that blue print.

It's my understanding that SH3Gen creates these orders just for fun. There's no reward or punishment for actually completing them or not, and indeed no way of actually completing the ones like this one. They're just there to give you something else to do to break up the monotony of the "Patrol grid xxx for 24 hours" missions.

FYI - SH3 Gen's orders + ship placements will only be valid for a limited time.

So if I was to leave Lorient on a patrol to the east coast of the US then I would want to run SH3 Gen when I arrived in US waters. This would give me the best intel.

Sneak into Vigo at night, find the Penquin ship and move next to it. Go get a sandwich and cold beverage while your captain boatds the Penquin and gets the documents. After finishing your snack sneak out of Vigo and complete the rest of your patrol. :D

Mmmm, that was what I tought, anyway it would be interesting if it weren´t for being damaged in the BE quadrant. I had to return to base without reaching my patrol zone, or Vigo, but bagging 4 ships (3 in a convoy).

for being damaged in the BE quadrant

Sounds painful!:rotfl:

A bit like Haemmorhoids!!

(Sorry for going OT, but couldn't resist!)

Yes! Another good idea would be to get german Christstollen like in Das Boot. Great during the winter months!

Unfortunately the game wont check if you were there, and never will.

But you should find a german merchant in the harbour, at least for a short while it will have been there during the timeframe.

GE, referring to my Cassablanc raid I used SHIII Gen, and it did show that there were several ships in Cassablanca. After not seeing a thing in or around my patrol grid(DT65) it helped me decide to give a port raid a try. That was why I chose Cassablamca. So, SHIII Gen does help from what I saw.

I did all I could to make it work in a sensible way. I can not guarantee that every mission is working every time, and of course it's not even designed that way. There has to be the right balance between unpredictability and a certain chance that you find your Battleship or whatever.

The kind of information you posted is very helpful, because I am not playing myself anymore ..

I'm sure I'm repeating myself, but I can't say this enough. I can't do a patrol without SH3 Gen, I feel naked and lonely without it. I hope GE makes one for SH4.

Thanks. Sh4Gen is a possibility. But let's hope SH4 will make "campaign enhancing" superfluous!
